After looking at the recent posts of Armidale Class Patrol Boats by Peter and Laszlo it has encouraged me to post the progress of my Armidale builds.
I have one R/C Armidale (HMAS Wollongong) in 1/72nd scale that has been running well for the last couple of years.
I also have four other Armidale models under construction in various scales. The smallest is at 1/350th scale and this will be a resin model. The next is at 1/150th scale and I am building this as a static desk top model for my office. Another 1/72nd scale model is starting to take shape and this will make a great running companion to Wollongong. The largest is at 1/50th scale and as Peter has demonstrated this will be a much better functional model than the smaller 1/72nd scale model.

Very nice, Steve :-)). I didn't go the f/g hull route as I've had no experience working with that medium, other than its use as a reinforcement for wooden hulls.
I assume the bottom picture shows Armidale with her older cousins, an Attack class and a Fremantle class? If so, it shows the relative sizes of the 3 classes.

Hi Steve
Is the 1:50 fibreglass hull your own mould or from Allan Pew?
-
Brian, as far as I'm aware, Allan Pew only makes a 1/72 hull, although he did tell me that he was considering a 1/50 version in the future. I used his 1/72 drawing scaled up to 1/50 for my model.

Your correct, the other two models in the photo are the Attack Class and the Fremantle Class Patrol Boats. All in 1/72nd scale, the Attack is not a functional model but the Fremantle and the Armidale both run reasonably well. They are relatively small so are really only suitable for sheltered waters.
Brian
I construct all my own hulls. A couple of photos below show my Armidale moulds and the hulls that I make. I have also spent several years coming up with a set of drawings for the Armidales.

Hi Steve,
Do you have plans for the attack Class?
Andrew
-
Plans for the Attack class and Fremantle class are available from the Naval Historical Society. Website is www.navyhistory.org.au (http://www.navyhistory.org.au)
Also worth checking their other plans.

Andrew
I have started a set of drawings for the Attack Class Patrol Boats but they are not complete. I built my model some years ago using the Navy Model Makers drawings which are now available from the Naval Historical Society.

I was able to spend a bit of time working on my own 1:50th scale Armidale Patrol Boat over the christmas break. I now have three at similar stages of construction.
