here is my first attempt, does any one know anything about this engine
a Large twin cylinder steam engine
height 135mm high x 200mm long and 85mm wide.

Was having plenty of problems tying to post pictures, but after reading the thread and am now able to resize and post pictures.
Computer literacy is not one of my strong points but it works plus I like simple solutions.

Looks very much like the piston valve version of Bertinats "Borderer". If looking down on the top of the engine the cylinder covers have a flat on the diameters where they touch, it's the "Marcher" the Borderers are fully circular, and if you require the further information for either or both engines PM me.

its was made by a Mr George Roskil, so I'am told, here are a few more pictures, I have this advertised on Engines for sale, its not mine it belongs to Albert Flood.

Humm looks like a slide valve to me, you might have to take the valve chest cover off to confirm that though, nice engine though :-))

Good afternoon all,
I'am posting some photgraphs of my windermere launch, this is my first actual building of a model boat, the hull was bought, the rest from lathe blinds,
Up to now it can be altered and it will be, as I go along I'am seeing things which need attention, the front and rear sections will be covered by a canopy .It will be battery driven,
my next one will be steam driven.

Hello once again, this ia the start for my new steam boat a few pictures of my new Maccsteam 3 1/2" boiler and twin cylinder kit built engine from m/s Jotica, the hull is a Windermere type when I unpack it I'll photgraph it, this set up runs very well on steam.

good evening all,
here are photographs of a hull which I think will make a nice large windermere launch,its in blue, it measures 51" long, and approx 9" wide, the boiler is a Maccsteam
3 1/2" and the engine is made from a kit supplied by Jokita, the engine like a copy of a chedder engine, runs so sweetly on steam, cannot wait until it is run in. I
have the chioce of this hull in blue or one in white.opions please.

Personally, in white, then use it to model SL Bat- Alfred Sladen's personal launch, now in the steamboat museum. The model has very similar lines to her.
Just my opinion though. A very pretty hull no matter what you decide to do with it.
Lovely steam plant too.

the hulls have no names, two were offered to me, I decided on the blue one, may buy the white one if funds allow it.

Sorry I cant help, the funnel top came with some spares I bought and the hulls are I believe las of a batch, I dont have a name for them.

Hi, I think the green engine might be made using Reeves castings.
The first photo made it unclear although the design seemed to be a "Bertinat", subsequent ones changed thoughts of it being a piston valve to a slide valve in seeing the end view. Although we still haven't seen a topish view, it seems to be a Bertinat Borderer (Yes, Reeves castings) non reversing double acting slide valve. The "PTO" on the end is non standard though as the original design had a waterpump spur gear driven on that end.

Bang on no doubt about it it's a Borderer slide valve made from Reeves castings.
Here's the piston valve engine with the pump all as Bertinats drawing the only difference it's all made from scrap box.
Cylinder is from a square C.I. window sash weight of the most horrible rubbish.
The engine being piston valve it is reversible with the steam valve as per the smaller Marcher.

I am not 100% sure, but is that asbestos paste lagging, on the manifold, or a look alike beware.

But there again, you do tend to make working engines rather than Bling Queens. %)

I like cap screws you could dismantle that engine with 2-keys, besides I had a surplus of 6 ba and 4 ba screws and being high tensile they hold on the cylinder head of my Flash steamer , just like the pic. 4 ba cap screws holding the steel cylinder head which is machined from a solid lump of M/S and tapped into 70 ton tensile cast iron cylinder flange., this pic was taken when the engine was new, the head is now burned black.

I now use hex head bolts as I have run out of cap screws. pity though that they are so expensive, if I wanted bling how about chromed cap screws.
