Sorry about this analogy regarding the 'Northern Boat Show', but is Doncaster not geographically in the Midlands?
It is 102.53 miles, as the crow flies, from Doncaster to Newcastle upon Tyne and it is a further 57 miles, crow flying, to Berwick upon Tweed.
England goes 159.53 miles further North from Doncaster, yet London is only 145.97 miles South of Doncaster!
I do hope your show in Doncaster goes well and is well supported.
I just hope that the Southerners support our boat show in South Shields (Near Newcastle upon Tyne), as we support theirs, and that our show goes better than last year for traders and Exhibitors from further afield, or it will be the last one, as advertised on Mayhem yesterday.

Meriden near Coventry is classed as the centre of England consequently that whole area is called the Midlands, anywhere South of the Midlands is Southern England, anywhere North of the Midlands is Northern England, Someone will on doubt know exactly where each band begins and ends, Doncaster certainly has never been in the Midlands!

Why is there a sudden interest in redefining all out traditional regions of the UK (see thread about North East Show) what's wrong with that area being called the North East everyone knows where we mean. The same with the North of England everyone expects that area to include Lancashire Yorkshire and a few other minor Counties!

Yes but the correct terminology for the Capital city is always " Up" and never down no matter where you are.  :-))

(  What about Railways  eg.  Up line and Down line ??? )

when travelling to London is based partly on the importance of the capital and partly on the habit of denoting railway lines as 'up' lines (to London) and 'down' lines (out of London).

As a Yorkshire man with Scot grandparents Yorkshire is NORTH England.
Yes it is south of Glasgow, but please dont confuse us with the south east of England, ie the home counties and London.

Is there a proper Advert/flyer for the South Shields show?

Despite being an excellent show and venue, It would appear to be the least advertised show going, no wonder the attendances are dipping.

hi there

I know (I think in last month's model boats mag) there was an advert for South Shields Model show, but, as for officially produced flyers tohand out to the general public - as far as I am aware - it may have been left up to North East Clubs to advertise the show.   I do know the South Shields club have produced a flyer and it has been handed out and posted in Tyne and Wear by various members of the Club - places like Asda, Morrisons etc. on their notice boards and I hope that other North East member clubs have taken the initiative and done exactly the same thing in their areas - rather than expecting organisers of the show to do everything.

It is in our interests to attract as many people as possible as well as to the clubs for obvious reasons.

Hello,

Just returned home from the Show, enjoyed it very, very much !.
This has to be the most friendly Show I have ever been to.

I admit I can chat a bit !!, but I got home almost hoarse, from talking and being talked to !.
The Club Stands were fantastic, lots of the models were awesome in their details and finishes.
Plenty of Traders selling a wide variety of much needed bits and bobs.

Met up with lots of old friends, made some new ones too.
A really good day out !!.

John.  :-))  :-))  :-))

Totally agree with above.....they give a lot of inspiration to a lot of builders, and I just love looking at them........

In some ways, better than going to the show, as I find that you never get enough time to look in detail at all the models on show and invariably miss some whilst the mind or the kids distract you from the main bizz......I for one , can't get enough of them.

cheers, neil.

Hi Martin
The Mearsk Rover is mine along with Aerokits 46" RAF crash tender. I also purchased the CAT Trawler called " Double Trouble ". I am a member of the THREE SHIRES BOAT CLUB. Well done CADMA for a great show.

Great photos Martin, being more or less housebound this is the nearest I can get to a show.

Love the models with the deck clutter detail like the one below.

HI DickyD. Thank you for your comments on the model with the deck clutter. The model is a Midwest Boothbay lobster boat at a scale of 1/12 or1in to the foot. The model was built in 1989.  It still draws a lot of attention both at lakeside or at model shows.

Stan :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

Thank you for posting such great shots of the show Martin, much appreciated.

Special thanks to CADMA for a great show and many thanks to all the other participants who gave us a very warm welcome. We were pleased to show as a forum and raise money for our chosen charity, Help 4 Heroes, of which we collected £120.64 through sales of goods and donations -MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED

The awards to Rex, (Special merit award for HMS Hermes), Runner-up Naval Ships for HMS Edinburgh, (Chris Bullock & Cloggie), were a total suprise: To then be awarded Best Display left us overjoyed and shellshocked :-)).

Cloggie,
Your stand and the models displayed deserved the awards.
Once again like at Mayhem Weekend you put on a fantastic
display of warships that are a credit to you all.  :-))
