Title: Model Slipway Envoy Civilian
Post by: shimsham on January 03, 2011, 09:58:35 pm
Anyone tell me if they have built this boat, would like some advise on the colour scheme in what was the original colour of this tug and the colour below the waterline can you use any red or does it have to be red oxide because the only sprayable red oxide i can find is for metal only and the hull is made from GRP.

Cheers.   :-))

You can use the Halfords Rattle cans on Grp with no problem at all, even though they are for cars

Uncle.....those automotive sprays are totally suitable for use with GRP....however best to lightly rub with 1200 W & dry to take the gloss off the hull first.....Derek

Derek. I have been told on RMB forum to use Halfords red primer for the hull and then spray the red primer with
sealing spray satin varnish but i cannot obtain this nowhere i know of,also i have been told there is no need to cover
the red primer with nothing.
