Based on my great uncles first boat Maid of Erin CT.116 which he had in the 40s, built by J.Nobles Fraserburgh.

Nice One
I like the staining on the hull,  proper job :-)),  an Orion mouldings hull?,  I have one in the back of the shed, might just dig it out and make a start on her. Got a few projects on the go just yet though. What base coat did you use before staining.

thanks guys, Bosun this is a Models by Design hull shes only 20 inch long, i got the one from Orion Mouldings aswell thats one much bigger, the base coat is humbrol its like a beige colour, i'll get the number for it later. we wanted scrumble but no where had any. thanks guys   :-))

Bosun the base coats number is 94 (brown yellow) and the wood stain, first i coated her in medium oak, then to darken it jacobien oak and then a final coat of clear gloss for the shine. also leave each coat of varnish for a week or at least a few days to let it harden because we put a strip of masking tape on to do the water line and it took the varnish off.
by the way this boat stears perfectly astern, i've never seen a boat like it, i can do a whole lap of the lake and dock it into a little harbour astern, we think its because of the pointed stern.

Hy Cam
Thanks for the heads up on the colours, :-)) I used to work an 18 foot double bower, with a few hundred yards of trammel net, hauling on the stern quarter no problem on your own, could,nt do it with a transom job, took two of us to haul as the boat wanted to go where it wanted, not to clever in a bit of a sea. Thinking of doing the same paint job on the deckhousing of my Boston Typhoon when I get round to it.

Hy Cam
That,ll be an interesting build, what hull you going to base her on. I have put a short video on youtube ... Working Model Trawler....    I had to put a swinging arm on her to try and get the lift, but she towed alright and the spread on the gear was better than the video shows. The Cygnus 33   ( Maiden Voyage of my Cygnus 33) is mine as well. Keep us posted on the new build.

same as the photo in the link i was thinking Darren. want to make her from a time when Al had her. at the moment im making up a queenie net for the cygnus that ive got, putting the chafeing gear on ( the little bits of orange twine are taking ages ) want to find some mats to put on her now lol http://www.trawlerphotos.co.uk/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=50115&title=scorpion-27s-net&cat=500 thats the net i'm doing

the 1 i have on the our lass/amant is a queenie trawl with a longer tunnel, used tap washers and rubber bushes for the hoppers , connected to footrope with chain link i, made trawl up same way as a real 1, no mats on it tho, roof felt you could use for mats or find some thin rubber

aye it is Charlie, cracking little hull, suited her perfect, mind the real one was built at J. Noble's Fraserburgh in 1948, wouldn't mind a hull for my granddads boat the Village Maid, slightly different shape to this one though, hint hint, hahaha

I just got a kit for a little steel under 10m boat, but they forgot to put the plans in so waiting for them, they sent them to me on email so I could get a look at it, should make a decent model, I changed the plans for myself,  so i'll hopefully get a start on that soon, but im thinking on getting a shed to do all my model boat stuff in, save going up to my granddads house to use his workshop
