Title: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....
Post by: rathikrishna on January 17, 2011, 10:07:42 am
Good morning Friends...
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful woman,a warrier princess, named Rathikrishna,  lived in the Candy Ruby Red Island,in God's own Country, in India.
by some reasons she was unable to marry one.so she worshiped the Soorya Devan,(Sun God),for years...then one day Sun God appeared in front of Rathi,
and asked..
Soorya:-  " hey Girl..now i am pleassed in you, what is the intention of your worship..?"
Rathi:-       "Oh my Lord..i need a Baby for myself...now i am alone..if its not, i will die here..."
Soorya:-  " No...dont be sad..i will give you a girl child...but i have a condition, that you must agree with..."
Rathi:-      "Sure..indeed.."
Soorya:-   "Here its too hot...so my baby is too adicted to Ice creams..she always looks for ice creams..,
So, you must find a way to feed her ice creams when in need..."
Rathi:-      Lord..how can i manage it..?  i do not have any ice cream vendors near me..."
Soorya:- " Dont worry..i can see an ice cream vendor near to your river base, from your home...to reach there i will give you a boat with         some peculiarities.."
Rathi:-      "Peculiar..?"
Soorya:-   "yes...its a boat finished in Sunrise Orange colour, weight less , all carbon composite..!!, stiff, strong, but much light...and yes,          it is assisted with
a sets of Power Assisted Oars..!!!.. so if you want to row it, you can simply grab the handle, and the sensors in the handle will detect the
effort,so it will assist you hydraulically..so you do not have any excersion...my baby very much like the boating along with ice cram eating..!!!
So you can simply take her to there when she asks for the ice creams...and yes..never forget to sing the ever classic rowing song..
the row...row...row the boat..so she will be pleassed..."
Rathi:-     "Oh..cant we fix an engine on it...?  or an electric motor..?  i am an expert in boat making.."
Soorya:-  "Yes i know..but my baby never like the engine noise..so if you agree i will agree...and time is running ,i have ample of things to do..."
Rathi:-       "agreed..."
Soorya:-  "So when you reach back home, you will see the boat at the bridge of your grand home...and baby will there in the boat...the name of the craft
will be CRAZY GIRL, as i feel like that after seeing you..."

then God disappeared...Rathi went back home..she took the girl...when the baby saw ,Rathi, she started to cry..Maaa ikeemmm...
so Rathi started to row the boat...she kept the cute baby on the cushioned box over the platform..and started to sing...
Row..Row..row the boat...gently down the river...merly..merly...
then baby started to laugh....
                                                                                                     from Tale of two Angels...

have you heard this story before..? No chance...because i just typed it here...but this was a dream..and this was the cause ,to think about a rowing boat...
Title: Re: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....
Post by: rathikrishna on January 17, 2011, 10:09:10 am
all we run behind big ships, speed boats, and tugs..etc...etc...but none of us will think about a rowing boat...why..? its clear...the toughness to find, or to make a rowing mechanism..its true, i was loooking for such mechanism, for me..so i searched..but none of them wasnt easy to make, and some of them was actuated by three and four servos for one side..and it need a circular movements of control stick, all with a good timing...sooo messy....
Title: Re: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....
Post by: rathikrishna on January 17, 2011, 10:10:33 am

so i smoked my brain a lots...and started to trace on my drawing board with a hot coffee...as my Maa's filter coffee inspires me..i found a solution for my worry.

I seached for a good doll around me in all shops..but none of them was in scale, some was 2 foot long..after some disappoinment, i got three dolls, from a car goods seller, as key chains...those three was almost in 1:30 th scale..

so i started with the longest doll, as you see here...

then i removed its hands from body.....

i took a smaller crown wheel, from an old toy, and made this setup, as you see here...

after pasting the head and hands on the shaft, i waited for a day...

after the setting time of the glue, i added some more reinforcements on it...

and i placed it over a toy gear box, with a reworked motor for 6 volts....
Title: Re: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....
Post by: rathikrishna on January 17, 2011, 10:13:53 am
i fixed two aluminium brackets at the tips of the each hand, to fix the oars..

the oars was made out of foam board..and oar rods from brass welding rods...

the rudder set up is conventional, as the craft is too slow in nature....it made out of foam board, and driven by a toy gear box, via a walkman belt...

the basic hull is expanded polystrene, and all additions where done by foam board...

i placed my baby as a trial here...

i added lots of weight all over the back,of the craft, to retain the momentum, aqquired by the oars...if not, the craft will stall...and jerks, insted of a foreward  motion...

you can see all mechanicals in this instructional video....

and actual running of the craft here....

Another BRILLIANT model.  :-))  Like the arm movement although I would soon get tired rowing like that.

What next, a diving submarine maybe.   O0

Rathi I have to ask this, have you built a time machine? the speed you seems to turn out these wonderful models is amazing, I still have a pile of bits waiting to get fitted, a mountain of balsa waiting to be marketed out and cut to shape and can't find the time to do it at the moment, yet it seems you produce a stunning model every few days. I raise my hat to you.  :-))

" Like the arm movement although I would soon get tired rowing like that." Hai Wet..i told you its not an ordinary oar..nowadays Gods are insisting all sophisticated enginering, to promote their effort...as the population is increased its hard to help all through divine ways..so it was assisted with Power Assisted Oars....(Hi..HI..)  so its not a problem to row...(apologize..only for a jolly...)..

OHHHH....and from there we can see how complicated it is...Friends..when compared to that work, you can see how simple it is to make a rowing mechanism..that i used here..still it works nicely...yes..?  so its a humble request to you all that please make arowing craft yourself and post it here...because all we need to share many ideas from here...surely MBMH is a GRACE for a modeller...as the BIBLE says, the Lord leads us, so we have to follow, without FEAR...its nice...

Simply amazing again....If all she does is from scrap bits and pieces, what would she produce with access to the gear we have available in the UK???

She really is an example to us all.. %% %% %%

Rachu

Your imagination and recycling skills are inspiring all of us.

I found that tamiya make a boat with motorised rowing mechanism (probably they copied you :})

I will attach the illustration of it
(http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd159/andrewh_photo/header_1.jpg)
It shows the mechanism quite well if this is of any interest to followers of Indian ingenuity :}

Another wonderful model.

Are the oars the only propulsion, or does the model also have a propeller to assist?

Umi..i got this configuration after many trial and error methods...at first i tried with a square tube from an umbrella..and in to 10 inches long..it worked well but with a very slow speed..then tried with round rods but fixed two pieces of foam board near to the fulcrums, along with two other pieces of foam board as a stopping mechanism..still it worked but ith a slow speed, and yes i was checking it with aluminium arms, on rowing mechanism...then i realized one thing..the reciprocating motion,of the oars giving me a lots of problem..instead of a directional motion it gave me a jerk like motion at first...so i added some weight to get some momentum...and tried with actual setup that you see in my photographs...but hands of the dolls is not strong enough to with stand the rowing torque..so i reached for the final setup, as you see here...you can see the oars are acting like oars, and also like a paddler wheel,in same instance...so it gave me even smoother ride, especially in reverse also..but still i am facing a little problem...as my first effort, i lost the aluminum bracket that fixed at the tips of the hands on port side..so i re fixed it with a new one...because of that the rowing angle is slightly altered in port side...so my craft is tend to roll towards port side a lots...even with rudder at full angle..so i will rectify it by today...and i will make even better rowing mechanism, more simply, and effectively, and the craft ill be the POPEEYE...hi..hi..so now i am searching for a doll of the legendary Popeeye...the sailor man..kooo..kooo...hi..hi...

the basic hull was made for a craft, intended with two independent prop assembly...but because of my impatience i used it for this...i will post some more photographs here so you can get even more ideas...

Bass...is that fair..? i know i m only a little one among you all...while crawling through your postings i always wonder about its finishing and workmanships...recently i saw a model from respected Umi, of a crane..isnt that amazing,,? and i requested her to give me some tips of that working crane, to make one myself...so i didnt deserve nothing..but care and love from you all..because now you all are my world..my inspiration to live...actually its too enough here as i am too restricted here...no friends...no outing..my parents need to give me in some ones hand...ohhh...slavery...so i always found some inspirations from you all...even now i drove alone 30 kms from home to reach this cafe...why..? to read postings from you all....so thanks for the endless inspiration again...have a nice day...

Umi..i came here just around 1 O clock, but the server was not responding...so now i am in a hurry, because my parents are not know where i am ...hi..hi..i got a slight hit in my left knee while my car runed over a pot hole..i can fly on highway, but a 6 kms to home is village road..its too hard to drive throgh potholed village road...its a real torture...oh sorry..coming to the point..here i am plucking off the glued panels for you..i am a little sad to do that, but still happy, because i hope i can convince you...

you can see here the internal fittings again..i added a lots of weight on it to retain the momentum aquired by the oars...
Title: Re: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....
Post by: rathikrishna on January 19, 2011, 10:17:22 am
actually this hull was intended for an other craft..i used it here because of my impatience to make a rowing craft...so you can see two protutions inside the hull, is nothing but two thrown ball point pens as outer shafts...one for port, and one for starboard...
Title: Re: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....
Post by: rathikrishna on January 19, 2011, 10:20:10 am
you can see the bottom...the paint was roughly done, because of the impatience...
Title: Re: CRAZY GIRL..ITS MY ROWING BOAT....

you can see the protutions for the two independent props..still you can see its clogged by paint...

now you can see the player with amp...i was unable to operate while running, because of the interference from RC board...still i have to supress it..

you can see the Mom and child here..hi..hi...i hope one day i will adopt a girl child like this...hi..hi...Umi..now i hope you may convinced...here i do not have any false claims..and false works..still i know i am too inferior among you all..because all you are living in a great place ,that all you can get anything that you need in a need...and secondly i am not much interested to make crafts from a kit....i have to suffer the pain from start to end..but i gets its reward while i enjoy with my crafts..surely, i am too thankful to our forum,MBMH,because previously i was making models only for my shelves...but within a short time i realized many crafts all operated in real water...when compared to aeromodelling, the waterbased crafts are real in life and nature...no mess..no strain...no accidents...no crashes..and if we compared to road crafts, we can get many vehicles, even in to 4WD , for a less price..then i feels it, as playing with a cheap Chinese toy, that i can buy from here...but still waterbased crafts are...no words to say...i hope i can understand some ideas to make my crane more easily..have a nice day..Umi..god may bless us..yes to make more stunning crafts...
