I have been sent these photos, source unknown. Can anyone shed any light on who built the model, what scale etc?

Wow that is something else, what a wonderful looking model, but sorry can't answer your original question.

Isn't this the model built on the Massive Models series on Discovery channel about 10 years ago now ??
-
I believe the series was called "Supermodels". And it is a 1/48 scale model made in series 1, by a series of professional modellers including John Lambert among others, and with a guy called Mark Pound interfering as the 'host'.
The second series saw the building of a Globemaster.

Wasn't this model on display at Child Beale Park a few years ago.
It was in the foyer as you went in.

Very doubtful its from the tv program if i remember correctly that model was best part of 10ft long, this ones clearly not that big, this ones also highly detailed, unlike the model that was build on the show it only has basic detailing making ita stand off scale rather then a scale model, this is clearly build by someone with more pride and passion.

In the Feb Issue of MB Page 20 photo 13, is a picture of HMS fearless taken at the model boat convention , Looks the same size but hard to tell if it is the same one, The picture is of a Scratch Build by Paul Youd from The Wirral area.
