Title: 1/96 Westland Wasp 1
Post by: deadbeat on February 03, 2011, 04:52:44 pm
Before purchasing my Deans HMS Nubian kit (pictures in a later post) I decided I wanted a Wasp on the back. Do you think I could source a 1/96 Wasp. Sirmar did do a resin body, which I did order last July, still waiting!!!!!

I also purchased on e-bay Airfix's 1/72 Westland Scout. I assembled this kit only as far as completing the body.

Having come to the conclusion that a 1/96 Wasp was unattainable I looked at modifying the Scout. Cutting and converting a 1/72 Army Scout to a 1/96 Wasp was quite a challenge.

I first obtained a plan, profile and front elevation of a Wasp, using the 1/72 body as a reference I dimensioned the diagram at 1/96 scale. I then reduced the diagram to an approximate 1/96 scale so I now had a 1/96 diagram close enough to take dimensions from.

See next post.
