Title: Greetings from El Neave

Having been granted permission to come aboard, it was suggested I let fellow shipmates and old sea dogs know what I am up to
- or want to get up to, which is a very different matter.  I build in 1/96 scale and so far have one Type 22 Campbelltown up and
running with bells whistles klaxons, sonar etc, a Type 23 just about complete save for the deck railings (occasional sloth having
got the upper hand) and am right now engaged on the final stages of a Tico class guided missile cruiser.  As with you, so with
us here in the Paris basin, the winter has been awful.  Two and forty days - so far - of around sub zero temperatures, which
reduces ship building activity in the garage to a task not even Eskimos in their right minds would wish to indulge in.

1/96 scale is not popular in France and even in the Great Wen of Paris, ship model suppliers are few, far between though excellent
when one can find them.  Alas, fiendishly expensive too.  So I rely on UK sources.  This is fine but risky if you are ordering
hulls etc.  Carriers services are strangely perverse, have little sense of geography - a national failing here - and are apt to keep
one in a state of (creative) tension, aka impatience and frustration.

A pity French suppliers are not as enthusiastic about their Fleet as their British counterparts. They have some splendid ships, but scratch building is so far "beyond my ken"
That said, I look forward to an immense improvement in my ship-building abilities, which is why I have "signed on for the duration",
Best to one and all,
El Neave.
