Hi all, im new to this sub bit :-))
I got the Ohio that was for sale on here, had a few problems with it %% but most are sorted now
Just a few questions, How much water should go into the ballast tank? I have tryed the sealed unit in the bath and it kinda pumps in so much ( im guessin once the unit is in the sub you wouldnt take alot of ballast to sink the model? ) My other question is the outlet valve? umm {:-{ havnt a clue lol anyone know how it works? i cant work out if the tube gos through the plastic thing and that the servo pushs the thing into the tube and shuts it off? or by turnin the servo it releases the presh? %%
If any of that makes sense any help would be greatful :embarrassed: as i really dont want it to sink lol

Hi Daniel,lets see if I can help out here.
The dive module in your boat and mine too for that matter is filled by a 12 Volt car washer pump
this type of pump will only half fill your tank,this is because the air inside the tank is being compressed as the water goes in
when the air is pressured to 1 atmosphere the pump cannot foce in any more water but it will still run and try its best
the valve block assembly is simply a means of trapping the silicone pipe to restrict water flow
when the command to dive is given the servo will start the pump via a micro switchat the same time as taking the pinch off the pipe
with the servo in the neutral or centre position the pipe is pinched and the wter will not be forced out by the air pressure in the tank
to surface the servo travels to its other limit and releases the pinch on the pipe.there is no micto switch on that side so the pump will not run A good idea is to build in a failsafe,with the servo in its centre position tyer should be a very very slight bleed of water which in time will empty the tank and resurface your boat in the event of problems,too much bleed and you will be forever pumping

As I tell people, Submarines Submerge, surface ships sink!....................unless you have got something wrong, in which case the sub will sink :-)

Servo in picture rotates clockwise and valve opens NO pump running
Servo in picture rotates anti-clock wise valve opens BUT pump runs filling tank
Servo in picture returns to neutral position (as shown) and pinches silicon pipe NO pump Running NO escape of water

Thank you to everyone thats helped :-)) i do get it now, got rather confused before %) mainly because of the funny shaped servo arm
Touchwood she should see the lake this coming sunday, will post pics up if it sees the water :-))
