Title: extending motor wires
Post by: john44 on February 15, 2011, 09:46:33 pm
Has anyone extended the length of the motor to esp wires on a brushless set up ? what effect would it make?

As long as a suitable guage is used. All will be fine. make sure connection is properly made as brushless can draw a lot of amps depending
on set up and use. John.

Just a companion point here, it is not advisable to increase the wire length on the battery side of the speed control (ESC) without adding further decoupling capacitors to the ESC.
As increasing the length of the wire from the ESC to the battery may make the ESC unstable.

On the motor side, as far as I'm aware the only rule (and it's a loose one at that) is that the wires are kept to the same length and as has been said, are a suitable gauge cable.
