Wouls anyone care to advise as to the length of the Darnell U47? Thanks in advance
-
Hi,
From memory I think its around the 60 inch mark in length and about 4 inch beam minus the saddle tank area, but don't know the exact sizes.
Hope its of use

I think you'll find that the original Darnell U-47 was a bit shorter and bit wider that the later U-570 was...not much, only a couple of inches or so in length, and maybe an inch wider in the beam.
A nice boat though, well worth buying if you find a good one.

Thanks for the replies, a further question, would it be worth making a brass deck and tower for this model (U47) or just go with the mouldings?
-
a brass deck and brass tower would add top weight and make it unstable unless you use thin brass
sheet or use etched sheet and are quite skilled in brass work and keep things relatively light. you can buy some very detailed resin towers these days from various companies that will transform the model inc a brass deck too

Thanks Sub Diver, Could you name any of the firms who make the sid parts? I have taken possession of a Darnell hull, but it needs a lot of work!

Sure no problems.
