Indeed, we should never forget the skill and bravery of the crews.

My father was rescued by an earlier Penlee boat, with the cox placing the lifeboat almost on the deck of a sinking ship to let his crew jump across. Very similar to the Ice Prince incident. He later worked with local lifeboats on several incidents. His respect for the boats and the crews, and his confidence in their abilities was total.

But for that Penlee boat, he wouldn't have survived and I wouldn't be writing this.
