Title: Alfold Charity Model Boat Show, 4th and 5th June
Post by: Davy1 on May 23, 2011, 10:23:56 am
This a nice show in  a nice location in Surrey. Plenty of model boats (and subs) plenty of Clubs and Traders, a barbecue on the Saturday night and it is all for Charity.

http://www.alfoldboatshow.co.uk/

The pond is good but not very "sub friendly" so experienced skippers and reliable subs suggested.

There will be a lot of subs because the AMS hold their AGM on the Saturday afternoon.

If you are an independent sub modeller please come and see us at the AMS stand. We will be friendly and you will know who you are talking to because we wear name badges.

If you bring a submarine I am sure that the show organisers will allow you to sail and we will help you sail with us.

See you there!

I see that someone has posted some good photos of this show in the events section.

I couldn't help but notice some nice ones of Nigel's Turtle, My Dzik, U Class (P 52) and Paul's amazing sinking freighter!

A very good weekend. Thanks to all the organisers and I see that £3300 was raised for Charity.

A video below of some of the activity at Alfold.

There is a lot happening here because this is a free sailing session so it is rather chaotic but great fun if you don't lose your nerve!
You will see Ian's Neger streaking in, my Dzik U class and Andy N's amazing yellow Subsonic from MMB. The sounds of shooting are not model boat modellers but clay pigeon shooting next door!

The warship sessions were more sedate and everyone at Alfold are pretty expert and well behaved.(See photos in previous post)

My thanks to Brian A for the photos (I have only shown a very few of them so far!)

And our congratulations to Brian for winning a prize for his Wallace & Gromit submarine.

Many thanks David for putting the Alfold videos on Mayhem for everybody to see. The show (the 15th) was again a great success and raised over £3000 for charity.
