Post by: Martin (Admin) on June 12, 2011, 07:38:27 pm

My eyes aren't what they used to be and need a larger screen, can anyone tell me if TV with VGA input make good PC monitors?

I use my 42'' LCD Toshiba flat screen to watch iPlayer/4OD/5Player/etc on instead of trying to watch tv programs I've missed on a 16'' flat screen monitor and when I have used it as a monitor it is spot on far far better than any monitor I've used before lol

Depends you might need to connect up sound to tv for TV audio certainly you have to with RGB as that what I do if I have cinavia problems streaming through the Playstation 3 I now just stram PC to tv but am looking at getting an HDMI lead that is long enough as I have a "whatchamacallit thingymabob" that plugs into the back of the tower to allow HDMI uasage sorry about inside the blue writing but have a serious block on what its called {-)

Try dabs.com i got a 5m hdmi cable for £6 last year, had a look and they still do them will try and get a link if you want?

And I set my dads mac mini up with his 37 inch lg led tv, makes for a good media centre as he's got external hard drives with all his photos films and music (including all his record collection)

Only problem we had is trying to find the right resolution to give a good full picture.

26" seems to be a favourite size.

I guess it is a balance between DVD viewing, gaming and price, and possibility to dual use as a TV.

26" over here are well under 300 quid now.

The other thing I would not is that too big is not so good as a computer monitor if you are up close, due to the information being outside your field of vision.

Just my 21 cents.
