Title: Planking a deck

Anybody got any advice on how to do this don't want it to be thick very fine but hope some one can help :)

Do a bit of a search on this site and you'll be well rewarded. However. Your post is a little vague. How "thin" is thin? What are you going to stick the planking to? What scale is your model (that has an important input for widths and lengths). Give more details and I'm sure the world will be flocking to your door.
But, again "but", planks are not just simple old standard floor boards on a ship. BY.

I start with a ply sub deck, usually 1/16" (1.5mm) mark the centre line and work out from there. The planks can then be as thin as you like. I use black paper to represent the caulking (cartridge paper at larger scales), gluing several planks to the paper and cutting then off when the glue is dry. I haven't tried joggling yet, I just butt then to the bulwarks. I separate the plank joins by 3 or 4 planks. This looks OK to me.
