Title: Italian Light Cruiser Puglia
Post by: marinemole on August 08, 2011, 10:22:12 pm
On my recent visit to the Vittoriale on Lake Garda, home of the MAS 96 MTB, I also photographed the light cruiser Puglia. The bow section of the ship was dragged up the hill and blended into a concrete 'hull'. In previous years it was much more visible from the lake but the trees have since grown and now partially obscure it. Hopefully some useful detail shots of fittings and armament.

I'm having some problems posting rotated pictures from Photobucket. Anyone else experiencing similar difficulties?

That must be weird seeing half a ship up a mountain!

Fascinating, I'd never heard of this before! There are a number of parts of early warships surviving around the world (such as USS Oregon's mast) but this has to be the strangest example of all. Thanks for posting the photos - they might well be useful to anyone modelling an Italian ship of the same period.
