When the park first opened some of us local boat modellers were commissioned to build R/C kits as one of the lakes was to be used for model boating demos. They spent a lot of money and had a huge model of one of the Cunard Queens too. It didn't last long though, predictably. I managed to blow a couple of the new Graupner electronic speed controllers during my build, they were not very tolerant pieces of kit but they still cost around £70 each!

Sadly thorpe park doesnt have  any good model boats anymore, just the small coin op affairs for you to fill with pound coins !- the models of the eiffel tower and other world wide  icons are long gone too....
