Well it has taken a lifetime of waiting, but at last the England Cricket team are the officially the worlds top Test playing nation. A proud day for all England supporters. For too many years we have been put in our place by the great Australians, but no longer.... :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Well done to Andrew Strauss and his team.. %% %% %% %% %% %%

They are doing nearly as well as Southampton F.C. Barry :-))

Albeit it in a most curiously uneven series. Someone in the pub yesterday ventured that the Indian team were playing as if they'd been paid to lose. Any thoughts (other than whoever may be paying them forgot to tell Praveen Kumar)?

It's only a couple of years ago that the West Indies knocked us over for 51,
a lot of hard work has been done since then.
Now we see the benefit, let's hope we can stay at the top for a few years like the great Windies of the 70s and 80s, followed by the Aussie team with the likes of Boarder and Warne.
When we have been numero uno for a few years then we can compare this England team with their predecessors.
In the mean time lets just enjoy the win over what's been a poor Indian side, most people at the beginning of the series thought it would be a lot closer fight.
to stop a team like India from scoring 300 or more in 6 innings takes a mean attack.
We now have a team that seems to like grinding the opposition into the ground.
Lets hope that continues and England go from strength to strength.

Dave,
I put a bet on at Sanjeev Hills bookies three months ago. I could only get 15 to 2 odds that India would lose the tests by over 1 million runs, but I placed the bet anyway.
They really must pull their fingers out, or they may be a few runs short!!
There's 50p riding on this!!!!
