Title: Huntsman
Post by: Steve1961 on September 06, 2011, 04:01:07 pm
Hello all, I'm thinking of building the Huntsman as my next project after my Atlantis,
I would like to do the 46inch version with glass fibre hull, also using twin propellers.
What sort of motors would I need and what sort of battery, ies.
The building part I'm not to worried about as I built her many years ago but the knowledge of powering her I'm lacking in.
So basically motor and battery type and prop size.
Thank you for any advice
Steve.

2 of these:

and 2 of these:

you might get away with a single 12 12ah battery

brushed use a pair of 900's with 45-50mm props and 2 30 amp escs

Thats great, the budget is very flexible, have you any idea what angle the prop tube needs to be on this model...for that particular set up that is.

im afraid i dont. it turns out that the average discharge capabilty of a 12v 7.2 ah battery is 100-130amps. 2 motors drawing at 54 each is a bit close for comfort. secondly you wont need a 120amp esc's i messed up there you need 80 amp esc's.

2 of these:

if you get a 12v 12ah battery providing space and weight will allow.

there 4kg in weight 150mm long by 100mm high by 100mm wide.

youl roughtly get a run time of about 25mins, give or take 5 mins
