Hi Spam, I had a ride in America 11 in Maui this year($45.00) for 2 hours it was terrific. We got very wet but well worth the price. It is modified somewhat to carry passengers but it is still very fast. I hope to do it again this January when we visit Maui again ( we love the island )

WOW....26.09.2013.......the Americans have just won the 2013 Americas cup  :embarrassed: after being 8 to 2 down against Team Kiwi .....however it is reported that there is only one American national in the crew  {-)
Team America was proudly skippered by a man from OZ  :-)) ..............commiserations to our Kiwi mates......according to John Bertrand...........you were outclassed only by mega US$  O0 ......Derek

Amazing...some people have different jobs  %) .......just listened to the Team Kiwi weather adviser...he is a full time part of the shore based technical staff.......[he lives just 20 km north from me at Scarborough on the NSW coast]
He has been the Official weather adviser for the Australian Olympic team on 4 occasions = 16 years :-))
His is still the Official weather adviser for the Kiwi Olympic team = 8 years  :-))
He is also the Official weather adviser for Team Ferrari for the past two  years for every F1 race :-))
I bet he has a few frequent flyer points  O0 ...and picks good weather flying days for himself   {-) ...............Derek

It is not a patch on the "old" race.

The Kiwis had it in the bag but the Yanks still got up to their old tricks and decreed the next race conditions were to windy, read it didn't favour US boat, so the race was cancelled until conditions suited US boat.
Then next race that Kiwis also had in the bag, oops fellas you didn't finish in 40 minutes, so you lose.

Up the Kiwis shame on Yanks Aussie skipper, but these days money talks.

According to the BBC The only Oracle team member to do anything was:
"America's Cup: Ben Ainslie's USA beat Team New Zealand in decider"
As far as I am aware he was a late ring in!  >:-o
p.s. Up the Kiwis shame on Yanks Aussie skipper, but these days money talks.
I am sure that Emirates airline arn't short of a bob or two!

Hi all I watched most of it on you tube.  Early on the USA did not think you could jibe etc. up on the foils, so they got shown how to do it by the Kiwis!
The lone American in the race must have felt proud of his win, although he personally might have wondered why out of 311M + population they could not find someone else to join him!

Something about quality and quantity there I think.

Still Jimmy Spithill did a grand job.  Perhaps next time he can do it for Australia?

If any forum members have not seen these boats racing, have a look,  it is really something else!
