After applying the decals supplied with my Smit Nederland do they need protecting from getting wet & if so how ?. They are water soluble when applied which makes me think they would peel off if thy got wet, which without a doubt they will. Mick B.

I have always sprayed a few fine coats of clear varnish over the top, and not had any problems with peeling decals yet. Humbrol decalfix is another suggested alternative, but Im not sure how well it will last long term on working boats as I myself have only used it on static models

Thank you for the fast reply, I was not sure if clear coat would do the trick,I did not want to mess it up, always someone on here ready to help. Mick B.

May I also suggest you use a decal set solution such as Walthers Solvaset decal set. This will make the decal become part of the pain and eliminate the white film that is air under the decal. Do this before the clear spray. The decal won't come off after you've used the Solvaset on it.
