Went down to Falmouth docks today to take a few shots of the Severn lifeboat, the big grey things stole some of the limelight though!

Hello

Are you sure about that Gingyer ? I think it's a confusion
The bow Mounts Bay blue flag is still the RFA one : absolutly no way with australian number on the hull %%
Yep, in fact normally the Australian is supposed to be the former Largs Bay (L3006)

yeah probably got mixed up :embarrassed: :embarrassed:
Maybe there are 2 of them being refitted in falmouth :-))

Nice pics Russ, chose a good weekend to go down I think. Dave. :-))

I think that the port side numbering is for the Aussies and "they" just haven't got around to changing the stbd one. All the RFA "Amphibious" fleet had the layout as seen on the stbd side....and not as seen on the port side. BY.

Definitely two ships
One with flag on Jack Staff and one without

Yes it is the two bay class, in one of the pics you can just see the Aussie one in the background. The paint on the RFA's bows is a bit rusty looking and the other one is freshly painted.

Retired...hurt. Should have noticed that! Bryan.

Hello
As I'm familiar with aussie ships I've first noticed the different grey (also on the front superstructures). Australian grey is "sandy grey" and the UK one is "blue grey" then after that I've noticed the flag on the commisioned one (aussie is not yet commissioned means not bow flag) and then I've checked the one sold to Australian Navy : L3006, not L3008 then I was sure about confusion %%

Yes there were two ships there, Largs Bay and Mounts Bay, the Australian navy/marines were in town whilst training on the ships..
