Hi guys, been working on this for awhile.
Iv designed it from scratch with the help of a special friend who took the time out to help me with this, giving me pointers along the way.
Still got alot of work to do but the main construction is all finished now.
Powered by an RCMK 26cc,5.3hp,2 stroke she should move quite well and hopefully handle what ever i throw at it in terms of handling etc.alot of time and research has gone into this design and build but will find how good she once she hits the wetstuff.
All the hardware is HOR strut, rudder, servo mounts.
The servo is a 20kg,high torque 1/5 for steering,6kg standard MG servo for throttle
5amp UBEC powered by 11.1v,2100,25c Lipo
Iv 1ltr fuel bag
Prop is 7016 /3blade but am going to get some more props to test with
Still got to modify the strut & bracket then mount the stuffing tube in to the hull.
Still got to get some bits and pieces as i go along to complete the build once painted, which for now is what im concentrating on.
Hope you like :

Hi guys put together abit of a slide show of the build
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81EzAuBJO0w
-
Hi Daz,
yet another project?
any news on the other "commercila one"?
dont forget if you want the details in the handbook, I NEED the info by end of next week [21st Oct] So i stand a chance of getting it all the to print for 2012.
Er, another thing, Bernard actually came up to our club pool, asking if you were about....................
he did not look very happy matey.
-
Hi steve
Im still waiting on CAD to be sorted
I wont be ready that quick steve so maybe next time.
I seen bernie the other day he was alright then, ill give him a ring
Hi steve just got off the phone to bernie, hes alrite he needed some help and advice on somthing thats all,but forgot when i went in the other day LOL
-
Thats ok Daz, i didnt know if Bernard had your phone number or not. no I didnt give it him, as our database is , er "secure" and would not let any data out without asking that person first.
he didnt say what it was about, but thought best to let you know best way i could matey.
Shame you got rid of the zenoah engine you had eh? could of been the "test plant" for this..........
-
No worries steve
I never had a zenoah, only had this engine
Much better engine than the zen from what iv read and been told.
The RCMK has 4 bearing crank compared to the 2 bearing crank in the zen
RCMK has 5.3hp,zen has just over 3hp
plus a couple of other advantages.
so to me this is the better, stronger engine
-
Just started trimming the canopy and thought id double check the clearnces, holy hell how lucky am i,theres about 4mm between spark cap and canopy and about 8mm either side of the head LOL
I need some practice at fibreglassing but not bad for 1st attemp LOL
Close fit or what

Hi guys
finished all the fibreglassing now, removed the foam from inside cockpit, cut the screen out and drilled out some big holes in the back of cockpit and in the front of the canopy to allow the air through.
Im gonna modify the strut and bracket so i can get the stuffing in and lined, also make a support for the stuffing.

Finally modded the strut and bracket now, also put it all together again and weighed with everything minus a couple of bits that i havnt got yet
20lbs exactly or 9kg
Next job is to sort out stuffing tube and make a support for it

Naive question Gaz, but, does the motor have a clutch or is it a case of start and go.
Sorry for seeming thick.

start off its DAZ LOL
and yes start and throw :-))

Your boat is brilliant F1 , I will be watching the build from here on. What kind of speed do you expect from it & do you have to have it insured, ?. I noticed that you are using a plastic clip to hold your tailpipe, just a suggestion, when I raced Karts ( many moons ago) we used a spring wrapped around the exhaust to hold it in place, never gave any trouble. before we did that all the fixed brackets used to break, I thought this might help. Mick B.
-
Thanks Mick
im hoping to be around the high 50mph to low 60's mph
The only thing im waiting for is the new topkit for the engine which will increase displacement 28.8cc,7.2 hp & 2.8lbs torque so will be able to swing a decent size prop to push it to see some real good speeds, but who knows till it gets on the water
This wil be my 1st gas iv run so got abit of learning to do aswell
Will get it stripped down today and hopefully make a start getting it ready for sealing up ok2
-
with an iv set up make sure affter you fill to get the aire out of the bag of thers eny gets in ther ive had the bag with an air bubble in as it sloshed around it got in the fuel line and kept spluttering the negine :-))
best thing to use is a one way valve from just engines to bleed the aire out then conect to the fuel line
-
Best way to have the bag is have it tilted so the top of the bag is slightly higher then any air will go to the top, you are supposed to burp the bag to get the air out but you do still get some in there.Never fill the bag right up and when finished store the bag with a little fuel in or they go hard and are useless.

-
Id of thought you would of had the hull painted whilst you were waiting Daz, we've all be waiting with baited breath for the next update.
-
Most people as Daz is doing build the boat before stripping her down to paint,no point drilling holes in a painted boat and chipping or scratching it then needing to strip it down again to touch up the paint.Build first strip it down then paint then rebuild thats how most of us do it whenever possible.Look forward to seeing how this engine performs and lets see if they have resolved the issues most have had with them.
Mart
-
Hi steve as above wanted to make sure i got all the clearances etc before painting and all the holes drilled etc,now i can get on with it and get it ready prepped for paint then when i put it together there shouldnt be any worries during the rebuild
more soon updates soon :-))
-
hi mate keep up the good work when you going to paint booth my friend shes looking goooooooooooooooooooooooood
-
Hey bud
as soon as now xmas out the way im gonna spend the next few days on the filling and final sanding, then gotta seal her up,hang it and primer it
just gotta decide on colours next
-
hey all
managed to get back in the shed, just finished the last of fibreglassing for reinforcing a couple of areas and started tidy up some bits, sealed the radiobox and resined in the stuffing tube, just waiting for it to harden up then back out to start the filling, hopefully have it all ready for 1st coats of primer this week
-
Update
getting there slowly, finished all the filling on the hull and gonna start final sand down ready for sealing it,just the canopy left to do now and make sure it all lines etc.
Also while awaiting for filler to dry i decided to have a play around with some foam & FG matting and make a false OB cowl to cover the exhaust for looks more than anything
(http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss219/retic79/45%20Gas%20inboard%20F1/DSC01550.jpg)
-
Hi all
been working on the false cowl, got it joined and rough trimed
drill the hole out the back for it to slide over exhaust and a quick test with rudder, exhaust, exhaust bracket just to make sure it doesnt fowl anything
see what you think.

-
Should have used a strudder with rudder inline with prop then use the cover on the rudder so it moved like the real thing looks good though, just not sure about it been over the exhaust.
-
Cheers mart
if i did run strudder still wouldnt be able to have it turning as id have to elongate the hole across the cowl not sure if it would have enough so it didnt hit the exhaust
Im gonna do some cut outs and mesh them so heat can escape and looking at inserting a piece of tube and silicon to join the 2 so the gases exit out of it
-
I appreciate what you are trying to achieve with that engine box Daz, but if you put cutouts in it, to try to cool the exhaust, it will simply add to the drag effect, plus may not cool the pipe sufficiently.
Worth a try, dont get me wrong, but you may have to try "with/withoout" and check its suitability matey.
-
Hi steve its purely for looks and the holes will be there to allow heat out, there will be air flow right through the hull anyways with the screen cut out mesh up
Soz for the late reply been busy organising new project which im currently awaiting delivery for, should be here soon hehe
right back to the shed loads to do :-))
-
Quick update
finished final sanding yesterday and applied 1st coat of sealer and rubbed down this morning.
Also decided to apply 0.6 oz glasscloth aswell,1 side of top deck done will do other side shortly and get some pics.
The false outboard cowl is coming along nicely and my water outlets have arrived so will install them aswell pics of that to follow aswell.
Rgds F1
-
Both sides of top deck covered in 0.6 glass cloth, just gotta leave it now to fully cure and trim and sand back the edges.

-
great boat!! :} if you ever run it at gautby road birkenhead post up here, its close to me! where do you run in staffs, I know the area quite well?
what resin did you used with the cloth, its a very nice job,
Paul
-
cheers red,ill let you know if i come up that area.
me and a friend got access to our own pool, but for this 1 im looking at a couple different pools but the main 1 once refilled will be chasewater
also looking at joining TMBC as its not far from me so hopefully run there aswell.
The sealer is deluxe Eze-cote its great stuff, doesnt weigh as much as epoxy resin,no odour so can do it in the house and real simple to use.
-
Left it over nite and sanded down all edges to remove excess cloth, need to give a light sanding down now ready for final coat of sealer.

That is really nice work and a very interesting thread.
-
Thanks cuppa :-))
-
"the main 1 once refilled will be chasewater"
That all depends on IF we can get permission to sail i/c on the main lake, its not an automatic right Daz,
Dont forget you have also let your Chasewater club membership and insurance slip now and to sail on any "public access" water, you need 3rd party liability cover as a minimum these days.
-
i know but as said in email im too busy at mo to even think about running boats
+ im looking at joining TMBC as they run gas boats
but looking at other places aswell like kingsbury aswell.
im researching the different clubs where i can run both my FE and Gas
Also has the small pooled refilled and been sorted yet?????????
the last i heard there was only 6-8" water and full of bags and debris so i wouldnt run there anyways
-
the small club pool is refilling nicely, water level is sufficient for the majority of boats, but need a few more inches for sail boats.
debris in the pool, you will get anywhere, its not contained to just ours daz.
We tend to find that our members who sail sensibly sized and powered boats can enjoy the size of the pool without problem.
ok, so someone catches a plastic bag or clogs a water pickup, but thats model boating.
if you want clear water, hire a swimming pool, but dont drink it ! as things still happen in that too ! [ha ha].
-
I know youll get debris anywhere and at any pool, the pool iv been running theres not as its not used by any1else
But when people are feeding the ducks and swans and chucking the rubbish in the pool and boaters are getting bags wrapped round there props etc risking the burning up there electronics.
good to here the pool is refilling though.
-
Bit more done on the false outboard cowl, resined in the mesh and installed a piece of brass tube, this will connect to the exhaust tip using silicon pipe, mounting bracket all done and reinforced the area aswell.
all sanded down now and prepped for paint.
The main hull is almost ready just finishing of a couple of bit inside centerpod and the canopy needs final bit of filling and sanding.
Should have it all ready for paint by end of tomorrow.

Hi Daz looking forward to seeing her painted up m8,just one thing i was thinking about looking at the outboard cowl is as its got no bottom i wonder if the roostertail will hit it and force it to break off ? might be an idea to put a bottom on it somehow to help deflect water. It might not hit it its hard to tell as your props not on there yet,if its far enough back it may not be an issue just wondered ;).Its looking good so far.
Mart
-
Cheers mart
Cant wait myself, been along time coming this build and alot of hardwork and thought gone into it.
As regards the rooster tail it should be ok i did mount the prop etc just didnt get a pic we'll find out on maiden run, though the 1st couple of tanks will be running in so nice and steady to start.
still undecided on colours etc so will have alook when i go to paint shop.im hopng next week to have it all in primer
The outboard cowl is now primed so getting there slowly,run out ofiller so will pick some up tomorrow to finish the last of the filling on canopy and sanding down,i can get that in primer aswell before the weekend,that will just leave the main hull :}
-
Hi guys
These will be the final pics like this, cos the next time it will be covered in paint
all the prep work and construction is now completed.gotta say im real happy with how its turned out and looks so far, still undecided on colours though, but either way cant wait to get it painted and start the final part of the build ready for maiden voyage

but also considered:
red & White
Red & black
sliver and orange
Red & silver
Orange & silver
Black & orange
Yellow
Red on it owns
Or that blue on the focus ST and white
argh so many %%
-
Personally I would not wet flat it but dry flat it...............WHY well simple really water and primer doesnt mix as primer is porus and in this Weather it will take days for the water to FULLY dry out.Wet flatting isnt used in bodyshops no more due to later probems with Micro Blistering
But it's your boat your choice
Dave
-
hi dave appreciate your input
But this is the way iv always done i used to work in body for many yrs restoring classic cars and never had a problem with this way,as long as you dont completely soak it and let it dry through throughly its not an issue, especially now got the workshop heated other wise i wouldnt even of painted it either
-
Do we take it, you've been kicked outdoors now daz? [looking at the photo's] After al that time in sheer luxury in the house [ha ha].
yep, stick to wet flatting daz, gives a far finer finish than dry flatting, plus when wet flatting, the paper can be reused more often as it dont clog up, as with dry flatting, once the paper is clogged, its bin time.
incidentally, micro blistering is caused by trapped thinners in the primer and/or paint, if not left to fully dry between coats, its not water from flatting and the majority of bodyshiops still "wet flat" to keep the dust levels down in the shop. Not many shops can afford to put the car in the paint booth to just dry flat a panel, way too expensive.
How about the old "blue n orange" Gulf team racing colours ?
-
Hey steve
Yep now iv got the workshop sorted im out there now LOL,but its great with the new heater and lighting i can be in there till all hours LOL
Iv always wet flatted,if it aint broke dont fix it,you yourself have seen the paint jobs and how they turn out iv always had really good finish on them
I did look at at the gulf colour iv got a pic of GT40 in them and wondered ok2
-
I dare say if you talk to Nige "nicely|" he could be encouraged to make you a full set of " Gulf" decals to go with the paintwork.
(http://s13.postimage.org/txtg0up2r/11_Mar_08_0300_Gulf_GTO.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/txtg0up2r/)
(http://s13.postimage.org/706obcuwj/gulf1098r.jpg) (http://postimage.org/image/706obcuwj/)
you have to admit, the colour scheme is so tempting......................
if the top section of the main cabin was white, then orange stripe to level of the main deck, then light blue deck & sponsons, with further orange stripe along the sides of the sponsons.....................
-
LOl we'll see
gotta spend out on car tax 1st so gonna be a couple of weeks before i can get the paint + i gotta get it flatted :-))
-

having a good day on this build
installed engine temporary to cut flexishaft, installed strut, flexi and flex saver
Also fitted the radiobox lid temporary to make sure it fits still after all the layers of paint have been added and the neoprene seal, all bolts have rubber o rings aswell so should be watertight.

Next job is start sorting out the electrics, but waiting on ubec and radio
Also still waiting on the vinyl, should off been done 2 days ago
-
Started on the electrics, the power to all will be
Flightpower EON X lite, 2100mah, 3s, 25C lipo and weighs only 169g
Iv modified it by adding rx plug soldered on with the 3mm bullets, this will go to a switch then to the 5A UBEC then to rx, but should make for long run times without having to worry about the rx pack failing
The steering servo is 1/5 21kg MG high torque digital servo
The throttle is 9kg,standard size,MG high torque digital servo (abit over kill i know but will do for now for testing)
Throttle servo will be connected to failsafe in the event of a failure
Radio is Flysky TX & RX also installing a voltmeter to rx

Made some alloy supports for the cooling pipes that fasten down with the RB lid and keep the pipes tidy and in place

Hey guys
managed to finally fire up the engine and test the cooling system and everything seems to be working,1 thing i have got is a vibrating sound so gonna check everything back over and make sure iv tightend everything properly, ill find the culprit and sort it before going any further and running it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmUAkn_7zLE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmUAkn_7zLE)
-
looking good dont worry about vibration they all vibrate like mad when running on the bench thers no resistance from the prop :-))
-
well done you got the 23cc pullstart to work as james said dont worry bout the vibration they all do it as long as you have no radio interferance just add to water mate and your good to go
-
Cheers guys
iv checked everything again to make sure and as i thought i have locked everything down
so now its a case of going to a pool and running it in properly and start the setting up then once bedded in see what shes capable of :-))

also ordered smaller prop to try aswell so go from there
-
Well while the weather been crappy i managed to source an old golf trolley and modded it to suit the F1 saves carrying it and risking it getting damaged but also acts as a workstand aswell while at the side of the pond

Even folds up nicely while the boat instorage aswell
(http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss219/retic79/45%20Gas%20inboard%20F1/DSC01780.jpg)
-
Yeah, its amazing how versatile golf trollies are daz.
i made the boat frame so its easily clips on and off, by using the half round golf bag ends on the trolley, so they clipped over my frame, so i can then use the boat frame seperately without the trolley if I choose to.

Hey guys manged to get out and run the F1 again
Changed prop to 6717/3 and made some adjustments on the carb and finally mangaged to get some vid footage of the run but unfortunetly cut short from lost rudder pin.
but all in all not a bad run and still need to break the engine in and some tweaking but at least iv made a step in the right direction
need to make some other changes so i can do them while sourcing a new pin for the rudder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFiTowzRLEc
-
Hi guys
Managed to get another run today with some more improvements made so still moving forward, not a 100% but getting there slowly and pretty happy so far
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7S1crkLMCg
-
Jobdone took the plug out pulled it over a few times cleaned the water out the carb and dried all the inside of the hull out,put it back together took it out side connected it upto the hose pipe and fired 3rd pull, turned the tickover up little let it warm up and adjusted the Low on the carb till it ran smoother as it was pulsing, noticed this also the last couple of times while running it,bit too rich i think turned it off let it cool down for awhile and restarted it 1st pull it fired up from stone cold
Checked all the hull over no damage, regreased the flexi aswell while at it.
So hopefully now should run a bit better, find out soon enough
-
what caused the "flip" daz? was it crossing its own wave wash or the drag from not running with the rear cover off?
-
heading into the wind while trying to hit full throttle but also the fuel bag wasnt on the hook on retrieval so could of been that and moved the weight towards the rear or mixture of both but its all done now and ready for anonther blast :-))
-
Another couple of vids from today
1st run with shortened pipe & 6717/3 prop
http://youtu.be/WoUm-IL5qO8
2nd vid with 7015/3 prop
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-1uQioQFqg
And my partner thought it was hight amusing to vid me in me dingy recovering it after it ran out of fuel LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m66Kad4GweM
I did try another prop 7016/3 but kept cutting out for some reason and still think theres some more in the engine just gotta figure the best way forward to extract it
-
Love the recovery vid, looks just like me when I forget the key to the club boat....
-
more runs from today, bit windier than previous runs but all good fun
Made yet some more mods and changes and is getting there now
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suSFsfEJElk
After flip spent some time sorting it and got it going again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ef1X4oHGLBc
This is the best run so far i reckon

Looks good mate but why you running it without the canopy ? you will have it all to setup again once you install that as everything from weight to aerodynamics will change.
Mart
-
I need get replacement hoop for the lock as i broke 1,gonna sort it this week
-
Keep some spare o rings in your tool box and a few elastic bands you never know when they will come in handy :-)).By the way go to most nut and bolt, fasteners place on most industrial sites and you can find o rings really cheap, probs get 10 for a quid and they do for pipes and headers too if you get the black viton ones.
Mart
-
yeahm, even Alsi sell multi packs of "O" rings of different sizes for about 3 quid. it save having to specifically order 1 from a model shop, plus it gives you loads of spares for your kit box.
-
Ill sort something this week im not in any rush and with the kids of school dont think ill be running much, will see how it goes ;)
-
Yea i saw the set in Aldi a while back and never bought it,went back a few days later and all gone grrrr.

Hi guys been awhile, been busy with new builds etc
Now the weather picked up aswell decided to do a couple of mods on the K30RZ,iv added EZ pullstarter and 15mm bigbore carb but had to do a mod to get it on,this carb i got has got internal pulseline so saved me stripping the engine down to drill and tap the crankcase, been very lucky just fits under the canopy
Hoping to run it again this week at some point and see how it performs and try and get it tuned properly and GPS it

LOL cheers scoop
iv gotta work out a couple of things 1st the main 1 working the best place for grab handles also gotta join aswell
but hopefully get them sorted soon :-))
-
Hi guys
Dont know what happened to the paint, these marks appearred about 5weeks after been painted,iv stripped the hull back and currently sanding back, looks like the lacquer has reacted, but the time line its happened doesnt make sense especially after it was baked aswell straight after the process so would of expected it to of happened alot sooner if not straight away,iv been intouch with the paint manufacture and said im not the 1st,apparently they changed the formulation of there paints, the primer, colours and the lacquer are all they same make i used
as it stands at mo the hull is near prepped for repaint and also made a couple of mods the main 1 iv raised the whole centerpod & canopy 12mm to abit more clearance as it was very close but will help with the airflow through aswell
the pics are what iv sent to the manufacter of the paints,im far from happy about it and all my other previous to this1 has never had any issues and it was done in the exact same way but with the old formulation but the main thing now is get it repainted back together and on the water as soon as,im just joining the BMPRS and hoping to start racing it,1st race is next weekend but dont think ill have it ready in time but will see, just didnt want to take it looking like this and waiting for order aswell for some parts

Bummer - that's got bad! I see they were there on the 15th (first two shots) but look as though its got a lot worse.
Hope you can get it redone for Nottingham.
Maybe its allergic to water?? %)
Cheers
Danny
-
Hi danny
LOL its been like it a for a few weeks now but didnt know really what to do it leave it as it is or repaint it
but i dont want it shown like this so repaint it is should have it sorted next (i hope) LOL
But something else has come to my attention now about the K30's so looks like an engine rebuild aswell so luck is not on my side at mo <:(
-
Iv also pulled the motor apart after being warned of the wrist pin spacers breaking up
So iv added the 1mm stroker crank, drill and tapped a nipple for external pulse for the bigbore carb if i need it
Hopefully sorted out and having piston machined to use the zenoah wrist pin spacers
When i added the bigbore carb i noticed the inlet port had a lip along the bottom and 1 side so iv also carefully filed it away and profiled it so it matches the ISO block for better flow
better matched the crankcase transfer ports to the cylinder jug so hopefully see some improvements once it back together
The hull should be reprimed tomorrow and need to go and order my race number vinyl aswell
Made the grab handles using 4mm plastic coated stainless steel wire wit eyes on each end crimped and silver soldered with a small piece of heat shrink on and drilled the holes ready to fit so havnt got to do it once painted
the handles themselves look pretty good just not easy to do on the F1 style hull but rules are rules
Will post some pics soon
-
Hope you only drilled and tapped the iso block not the crankcase much simpler :}.
Mart
-
Hi Daz, you can get vinyl race numbers from most DIY stores or ironmongers, about 50p each, don't forget your class ID either in your case the letter D.
I know our rules state 50 mm high letters/numbers but I use 75mm one's, much easier for the lapscorers to see :}
Cheers
Scoop
ps Good luck with the repaint :-))
-
Mart had to drill and tap the crankcase so did it while it was apart only took 5mins to do cos of the iso block on the rear exhaust engine,i had to remove some material/mod the iso block to clear the flywheel aswell but its all done and dusted
just need the piston and spacers sorting now, also iv ordered a pipe aswell while sorting a proper 1 from the man (you know who) just not sure on the time scale yet
Hi scoop will get them bigger and didnt forget the D :-))
Just hope things go to plan to make it in time another problem is im gonna have to run it in again aswell :((
-
Got the the bottom end back together now, fitted the 1mm stroker
matched the crankcase transfer to jug ports,i did do it before just made them match better and drilled and tapped the crankcase for nipple for the external pulseline if need for the carb but might just run it anyways, also matche the ISO block to inlet port on jug aswell, had to trim the teflon gasket aswell but looks much better now
and made a bracket to support the ignition coil due to adding the nipple in the crankcase

That's a really nice boat Darren. Should be a great debut on Sunday - sunny and not too much wind. Perfick!!

-
Thanks danny
lets just hope it fires up ok tomorrow, could really do with taking down the pond for a run before hand and see how it is,if its anything like the 1st time i run the this engine it wont get very far LOL {-)
but ill fire it up in the garden with the hose pipe attached and see what happens 1st
-
Got it fired up after 6 pulls, sounds ok so far got a nice throttle tone to it
Only issue is it seems too rich and got abit of over run once you let go of the throttle trigger, youll notice at the end of the vid starts revving up by itself so some adjustment is needed
Cant wait to run it properly and see how really performs

What a great build, its going to be a very quick boat, well done.

The bigger project still onhold while i sort out the ground ready for the new bigger workshop :-))

New custom exhaust with 1" manifold and ported no leak flange has now arrived and fitted
So shes ready to hit the water again and see how it performs and how much quieter it is over the zippkits pipe

looking really nice mate :-)) :-)) :-))

Cheer bud
just wanna get it back on the water and setup for september ;) :-)) :D
-
Well went down to the pond to try and run the boat with the new exhaust setup and try and set it up ready for september but no luck
The pond is covered in rag weed still so no joy yet <:(
-
Went and took the F1 last weekend and ended up with 2mins of total run before having issues with the exhaust and not an easy fix so ended up having to buy complete new exhaust system, new pipe, manifold and flange and exhaust retainer, till i can sort out the the custom pipe etc
parts just arrived and some modding required to the manifold to get it to work so will update soon and hopefully get a chance to run before the sunday ;)

Just an update
Havnt made the race again today still having some issues to sort out but just run out of time
I might not bother now this yr and concentrate on building next yrs race hull with new side exhaust engine and go from there
-
Oh No >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(
you build a brilliant boat, make it look like the bee's knee's, get everyone all geared up and excited to see it beat everything
then come up with "didnt go due to some issues"
we need atleast catastrophic issues as a decent excuse. O0
you could of atleast said
you were all prepped, sandwiches all made, full flask of tea, video batts all charged new film even a tripod and cameraman, the boat was ready to beat everything on the water, you had all your tools in the box, radio all charged up to the nuts, fresh fuel, etc etc and then the car didnt start due to the wife (always blamable) had left the interior light on and
you cant jump start it due to needing the computer remapping as its a special that shuts itself down and goes into anti theft mode when battery is flat etc an realy elaberated on it big style.
but all we get is "some issues" >>:-(
But then to top it off and make things even worse you say we have to wait till next year !!!!!!!!!!<*<
oh my god, i cant wait till next year to see a vid of this boat racing <:(
ill go all giddy by then and need to take even more medication. :P
phill.... :-))
-
Real shame Daz you missed a brilliant days racing at Leicester, more didn't turn up excuses required please :}

Hi scoop
I was still having problems sorting the exhaust and the OB cowl to cover the pipe,+ had to mod the manifold to get clearance over radio box basically just run out of time to finish im far from happy about it and shouldnt had to it but thats just how it goes :((
-
youl probably get a few real yexcuses for people not turning up.
But its realy because their wives/girlfriends wont let them play toy boats.
women seem to be under the impression that a decent bit of weather means we should take them out >>:-(
they have no idea that good weather means its boat time.
on boat days we should have some sort of ruling thats lets us do what we want,
without any future repurcussions
i can see no reason why they shouldnt wait till the lakes are frozen over, this would let us take them shopping.
They can even come with us and wait outside the rc shops
(must never ever let them see how much we spend on our stuff, or the prices of anything to do with rc)
phill.... :-)
-
Of course you could always take said wife/girlfriend with you. After a suitable time, they become bored sitting round watching, and are then willing to participate as 'spotters', 'lap counters', or any other exciting task which is available!
This also has the advantage that you don't have to bring your own lunch (they usually make much better sarnies than us blokes) and are much better at waking up for early starts!
Model boat racing is a sport for all the family - they will enjoy jeering you just as much as your fellow competitors! :-)
(My wife has read this and agrees - she said I could post it!)
Cheers
Danny
