Title: It Works!.....Revell Corvette
Post by: miarkaf on October 12, 2011, 06:45:00 pm: After putting off the installation for weeks dreading breaking or setting fire to something I finally bit the bullet and installed all the electronic/mechanical bits into my Revell Corvette hull.

Having previously put the hull together, installed propshaft and rudder and sealed with fibreglass I had "water" tested it and confirmed that it at least floated and didn't leak....now the tricky bit.

I've never tackled anything like this before and reading the conflicting instructions on the ESC and receiver didn't help....(Which are you supposed to do first "bind"the receiver to the transmitter or "setup" the ESC?)....So I just did the receiver bit first and the the ESC...I got lots of flashing lights and in the end after changing channel leads around got the rudder to move left/right and the prop to run forwards/backwards.....after several attempts at running "setup" on the ESC I even got variable speeds out of the motor in both directions....What a relief, no explosions or fires...Now I can get on with the interesting bits of the build....

Just one question :- The receiver ariel lead seems very short (Planet 2.4 GHZ), should I extend it or fit a longer one? or is it OK as it is?.

It should be above the water line how ever.

How does the boat float water line wise with the battery that far forward ?

Post by: miarkaf on October 15, 2011, 09:22:32 pm: The battery certainly helps weight distribution but I have had to add more lead both forward and aft in order to get the ship to ride at a suitable depth.....Still more is needed but I am loath to add any more at this time until I have the final weights for the superstructure etc....All lead is currently just positioned with "Blu-Tac" until final amounts are known.

Thanks for the antenna info, I'll leave well alone.

Boat performed faultlessly, I was very pleased with the result, and now that the maiden voyage is over I can concentrate on building my next boat, Nautical Marines, Dark Biter.....

Model Boats did a good review of the kit , I think in last years March or April eddition with Dave Abbott reviewing. Excellent Article.
