Title: idiots guide to switchers?
Post by: RyanB on October 13, 2011, 02:07:28 pm
Can anyone help with an idiots guide to switchers?

I have an action 2 way switcher and I do not understand all the technical blurb, can any one simplify this for me so I can start to use it again.

I also have several electronize ones which again I have no idea….

Any help would be appreciated..

There is, as far as I can tell, nothing which might reasonably be called  'technical blurb' on the P44 instruction sheet (which is Page 2 of the website for P44 here http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/P44A.pdf (http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/P44A.pdf)) The mention of the receiver voltage and maximum current rating is important so that you don't overload the unit. Anything less would be too little.
These articles should assist - also from our website - http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/Switches.pdf (http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/Switches.pdf) and http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/Relay%20Switches.pdf (http://www.action-electronics.co.uk/pdfs/Relay%20Switches.pdf)
I have no idea how the Electronize switchers work - perhaps their website would be of use?

Please don’t be offended Dave, I am just not electrically minded, I was looking at all the phrases such as Comm, No & NC and it is all very confusing.....  Looking at the first picture with the actually diagram makes more sense and I am sure I will be able to wire up what I need....

The electronize ones I assume are similar but again I don’t understand they way it has been explained to me..

Whilst I have your attention Dave, the P100 I have was bought set up ready to go which is great, I want to transfer it to my Tamar from my Trent, 1st question is do you have a specific sound on the CD (which I need to buy) for the Tamar and question 2 is what voltage do you recommend to run, I know it states up to 16v but I wanted to know what you use.

Thanks Ryan
