Hi all
Wonder if you can help I have come across a speed controller that may be suitable for a boat I have in terms of the amp capacity. The question I have is it states on it that it is suitable for ni-cad and nhims but I was intending to use a lead acid battery would this mean I cannot use it, any advice or help gratefully received
As always many thanks in advance
Regards Tony

Because of the chemistry going on inside the cells, each type of cell has a different "natural" voltage, so the battery packs wind up with different voltages. As long as the SLA that you intend to use is within the voltage range stated, there should be no problems caused by using a different type of battery. It is quite possible that the controllers original intended use (buggy?) simply did not consider SLA as a likely option.
