When I was a boy in Sydney (many years ago  :-) ) the Royal Australian Navy would put on a big display at the Garden Island Naval Dockyard on Trafalgar Day. Many ships of the RAN and some units from visiting navies would be open for inspection, and I was lucky enough to go on board some of them. I can remember being on some British ships such as the carriers Illustrious and Victorious, and the submarine Telemachus; this was back in the late 1940s and early 1950s, but unfortunately I did not own a camera then. Nowadays, Trafalgar Day barely rates a mention.

Peter.

When I served in the RN in the 80's Trafalgar day was still celebrated..... but only in the Wardroom.
