Title: The "Dawn Treader"...
Post by: Patrick Henry on October 25, 2011, 09:49:26 am
This is my modified Thunder Tiger 'Majestic' rtr trawler, now renamed "Dawn Treader".

She now has a Planet5 2.4gHz radio, Mtroniks esc, I moved the net drum to the stern so as to allow me to tow a working trawl net, added a pot hauler and some extra deck detail.

She had her maiden voyage yesterday, and very successful it was...dry as a bone after well over an hour's running. Next up is to add some rust and weathering.

Quiet? You should have heard the language when I was trying to get that trawl to go out on it's own....definitely not quiet!

This net(the Mk1)relies on the drag from the water to pull itself off the net drum...not very successfully, I should add, as you never know when it's going to come off. Getting it back on the net drum is ok though...

The Mk2 net is being built at the moment by a good friend of mine, and will work a lot better, due to a better winch being installed under the deck and a smoother running net drum.

As they say in all the best places "watch this space...."
