If anyone has the info, I would like to know about 'The Blue Chinese Speed Ctr'. I didn't understand a reference to it and I'm a nosy tyke. No other info known :}

There have been a lot of burnouts of these units used by forum members.
I have one in a dickie tug conversion and have had no problems to date.
My 7yr old grandson has run the tug for the best part of two hours and mostly at full throttle
I tested it in the bath with a nasty Johnson 540 running threequarters throttle and it just got slightly warm.
I thik Dave aka No 6 has had a problem though

thanks for replying - maybe it is about that one - don't know. The price of £11 all in for that amp seems too good to be true (but what do I know lol). In fact it reminds me of Marlon Brando in Guys and Dolls talking about sucker bets - something about The Jack coming out of a top pocket and squirting cider in his eye (you would have to have seen the film). As I say though it's all new to me and I'm willing to learn - so yours has been ok but others have had problems (if fires then thats gonna be expensive).

They are a bit cheaper and post free which is another saving
They are packaged, guaranteed and indentical to the full price ones

Dave.Not the ill famed Chinese blue escs. I think its true to say that the quality is variable.The amps rating is best described as optomistic.Also they tend to switch on a bit abruptly.If you are a collecter of shiney things, i have seen them in various colours other than blue.They are cheap at the price but worth a punt.(just).John.

No John - I was advised I needed an Mtroniks Viper Marine 25 and it arrived almost before I ordered it - great service.
I'm new to this hobby and testing stuf etc is beyond me just now - so a reliable vendor with good customer service record is for me.
What if the Chinese change it to a red case? Do we start the thread all over again %% {-)
Just from interest - do the boats actually explode or do they just smoulder? And could it happen on the shore side?

Dave. the thing most likly to explode in a model boat is a lipo battery.Treated correctly they are ok. But if misused or shorted then a real explosion is possible.U Tube has some video for the unbelivers. I myself have seen escs catch light.A fuse would have prevented this. John.

An internal fault can happen with anybody's gear, but is less likely with equipment sourced from companies that actually do quality control. If you get one such, with luck, its just the magic smoke and a nasty smell that comes out. If its less than good luck, you get an electrical fire. These are bad because there is a source of energy putting more heat in. A fuse in the battery feed is a very good idea - the ESC might still be broken, but the boat lives on.

i also tried one of the same cheapos it lasted less than 3 mins on test in the bath it also took days for the smell of burning to go so got losts of ear ache of her in doors

Looks good.BUT how on earth are the connectors supposed to be able to take 320 amps? It looks like the wires are far to thin and the tamaya plug would just melt. Another case of Chinese amps i fear John.

Dave, it doesn't matter if you use Lipos or Ni-Cads...I have seen Ni-Cads smoke and blow up when mis-treated...follow the rules for the equipment you are using and nothing bad will happen, i speak from experience (not bragging!)... :-)

True about treatment of all batteries
When I was on the ultrasonic teams there was an instrument being carried on a van in the passenger cab. It 'exploded' and caught fire. If I recall the report correctly. The batteries had been charged with a charger for a previous instrument model. The trigger factor was being placed near the heater in the van - damaged batteries deformed further and exploded.
