Some years ago after rounding, the corner, as I was approaching the Lizard, I surveyed the horizon with my binoculars when I beheld this pleasant site and diverted to get closer.

For those who do not recognise her it is the US Coastguard Barque Eagle, they pinched her of the Germans when the war finished. But for all that it was a nice sight for sore eyes that day.

In the 90's I crossed the Atlantic aboard her, every end of afternoon I came up to the main mast so see the sunset and the fabulous light on the sails. What a great souvenir. I love to see picture of her.

Sounds as if you obtained even more enjoyment of being inboard of her under sail, it must beat having to listen to the donkeys beating away at night.
