Title: Holiday Snaps
Post by: malcolmfrary on December 08, 2011, 11:50:47 am
Just wondering where to wander to, and heard about this on the car radio, so I went for a look.
It seems it went astray in a storm last night.  All the crew got off OK.

A few lads from the Indian subcontinent with Oxy cutting gear and it'll all be gone within a couple of days.

  Regards   Ian.

Just got back after my afternoon wander and had my food and had a chance to dig a bit.  Its called Edro 111, registered Freetown (probably not the one at Fleetwood, thats Freeport) built about 1966, Albanian owned, about 2500 tons, and 83 metres long.  The lady on the radio seemed quite sure that it should have been 83 feet, but then again, she was probably an arts graduate, and thus uncertain about the difference.

Not sure they will be able to refloat her there is virtually no rise and fall of tide in Cyprus!

Yes, when stuff runs aground here its almost always on the equivalent of a high tide - the surge that comes al9ng with a storm.  They've had one wreck a bit south of the new one fror a good few years now that grounded on a reef.  Never been shifted because nobody can agree who is to pay for the job.  The new one is right on the shoreline, though.
