Title: Nativity Scene modellers paradise
Post by: howyson on December 08, 2011, 05:57:48 pm
In Spain the nativity scene, 'Belen', is still a major part of Christmas, (PC has not reached them!). They can range from basic stables to full village models.

In Malaga, down the side of one of the main palm tree lined avenues, they set up, during the Christmas period, over 120 temporary stalls. Unfortunately more are being leased for selling bling, scarves etc, toys and nif naffs. However there are still a few dedicated to Nativity scene builders. From these you can buy anything from pots and pans to automated smithy's operating the bellows on the illuminated coals of the forge. you can even buy individual Spanish style bricks and roof tiles!

An equivalent model boat stall would have the any model boat enthusiast thinking he had died and gone to heaven!
