Title: M3 bolts

Hi Guys

I am trying to find some M3 bolts that are 80mm long i have looked about and i can not find any,Anyone know a good source

try some M3 stud and solder a nut on, just looked on model Fixings they only go to 50mm I take it is for holding a motor?

not quite its to hold a large box that supports a pylon  http://www.flickr.com/photos/19759955@N07/6412525927/in/photostream this idea of soldering a nut sounds a bit odd and not very easy

No need to solder Tim
Cut the studding to length put a nut on either end and tighten as required.
A drop of threadlock on the nut in place of the bolt head will keep the nut
in place. You could let a drop of cyano run into the thread instead.
Either will work.

That may work but the hole is couter sunk so there may be an issue getting the box off as the idea is that the box is removeable to allow me to transport the model easily

Are not the screws that hold the covers on electrical sockets 3mm, some of those can be quite long if you are using a box for a cavity wall??

I think they are 3,5mm

Have a look at the RC helicopter sites, M3 is a very common thread size on these kits.  I do know that the M3 bolts that hold standard mufflers on, especially on 30 size machines are fairly long, trouble is I can't remember how long :-)

M3 nickle plated cheese head screws in varying lengths are the standard for electronic stand off blocks...any electronic component supplier will have them.....
