Title: Propshaft angle
Post by: Chaz1940 on February 12, 2012, 10:58:22 am
Hi everyone

I have been modelling aircraft (scratch building) for many years but am new to boating.

I really fancy building a springer and would appreciate any help with regards to the thrust angle of the propshaft.

Many thanks

Hi there Chaz and Welcome.
Everything you need to know is on the pages of this topic.
I have built two springers and both mine have the propshaft
parallel to the waterline. However 'some say' different  {-)  {-)
There are so many variations but all the answers are here  :-))
I see you are just down the road from me where will you be sailing?

Ned

Hi Ned

Thanks for that.

I have joined HEMBC and will sail at Hartsholme

I am currently  in the process of building Mountfleet's  "River Queen" hope to complete in the next couple of weeks or so.

The Springer is my next project and have  just started drawing plans

Chaz :-)

The closer to level with the waterline the better on Springers.  They tend to bury their bow at full speed, and prop shaft being at an angle makes this worse.  Mine has a maybe 10 degree angle and it plows bad.
