Title: Coming Aboard! Bio for me!
Post by: yorkshireman on February 12, 2012, 09:35:41 pm
Hello Everyone

I see the forum rules suggest posting a bio, so here's mine.

Amazingly, I qualify for a buss pass now, but started folling with model boats for as long as I can remember.  Various sailors in the ancestry of the maternal side, and there are various whittled tiny ships which have been passed down from the maternal Grandad.

An 'uncle' used to bottle ships to a high standard, so I suppose there's something genetic.
As a lad, I made some boats, nothing exciting, and nothing remains - ecven the Thermopylae built to go sailing had to go amogst some house moves.

Oh, hang on, there *may* be a part built planked model lurking in a box since we moved, awaiting the final planking and rigging.

And now i find myself getting withdrawal symptoms from modelling.   I have the skills, the workshop, the wherewithall and not quite the time, so I reckon its time to begin some research and accumulate materials for a scale model of a Mersey class lifeboat - something chunky I think, say 4 foot long.

But where to sail?   The sea is within sight, but no freshwater lakes available.

Anyone have suggestions for boating in the Alnwick (Northumberland) area ?

thanks
Richard Wilson

Welcome Richard - I sail mine on the River Coquet on the quiet stretch behind Walkworth Church. Longhoughton quarry also looks very inviting
but not sure about access. There must be some fairly still reaches on the Aln.

Hello Richard and 'welcome to the madhouse' is how I was once greeted - I may regret this but what does BIO stand for?

                      Regards, Tony.

Hi Richard and welcome

A very friendly place Mayhem
I hope to see you on the forum.

Everyone is addicted to pictures so be warned they'll ask.
Whatever you can't find or don't know - just post and there
will be someone in the know.

As I said - a very friendly place to be.
