Title: what height stanctions
Post by: Ted_H on February 14, 2012, 10:50:18 am
I'm building a type 81 Tribal class frigate and trying to scratch build as much as I can. It's been sometime since I  did any building and one or two things have slipped from my memory.
Can anyone tell me the height of the stanctions and handrails in 1/96 scale. I'm thinking about 15mm.. am i correct?

Ted Thats too high - most of the commercial stanchions are 11mm above the deck -- 15mm would make them 4.7ft high at that scale.
I only build in this scale and can assure you that the 3 hole offset stanchions are this high.

Thanks Geoff. thats most usefull. (thats 4mm to the foot if I recall?)
I'll bear it in mind you build in that scale I may tap into your knowledge ...my grey matter is lacking a little after being out of building for so long.

4mm to 1 foot is 1/76th(OO) scale. 1/96th scale is 3.185mm(1/8") to 1 foot.

Thanks Niall.. I guess that would be closer to HO scale... the diffrence could be quite a lot if your only 3/4 inch tall !
