The tacho that i use needs a reflective strip to be stuck to the rotating part. On my boats i use the coupler with a short piece of tape lengthways. This works for me. What do your insructions say? Or did you buy it used? John.

Hi, mine uses reflective tape too (or a white paint line), bought it from CPC quite a while ago, but I image there are cheaper on eBay

I've found it really useful and have a piece of reflective tape permanently on my Huco coupling, so I can check at a glance if I think something is wrong (which nowadays it seems it usually is!)
