I've seen black & white photos of Higgins 78ft PT boats, from Squadaron (RON) 15 serving in the Mediterranean in 1944, with a light-coloured deck area at the bow, from stem for a length of about 5ft. I assume this was for aircraft recognition.
Looking at the tone of the photos I would guess the colour was either white or yellow. Can anyone confirm which colour it was, please?
Many thanks, Mike

Hi Mike
I have a photo in American PT Boats in WW11 Vol 1 page 49 by Victor Chun which is captioned as follows.
Ron 15 boats paint on the bow was part of identification for friendly aircraft. The bow had a 4 foot wide yellow stripe and the stern a 4 foot wide red stripe.
Hope helps.
