Hi guys,I,recently got a 1/25th scale S80 schnellboote,it has 3 x Electronize 30amp speed controllers fitted, and 3 x Graupner 600 motors running 3 x 55mm props,..my ? is what are the advantages of having 3 speed controllers,..furthermore, each motor has its own 7.2v battery,

Need some serious mixing to get it running right I would have thought

With regards to the batteries, it presents a lighter load, but then you could always switch to lipo or A123 LiFE which will deliver the current required from a single pack, and will save weight.
With regard to the ESC's, again the load is spread across all three controllers. You would need a pretty meaty ESC to cope with three Speed 600's at full tilt. Other than that I cannot think of any other real benefit, unless you want independent control of the motors.

Each ESC being fed by is own battery makes life much simpler if anything ever goes pear shaped. You get the chance to swap things around and observe the results. By cutting down the current in any one section of the circuit, you reduce the chance of things going wrong. Apart from making sure that the extra connections are up to standard.
