Title: The MAP submersible, aka the 'Jelly Bean'
Post by: Patrick Henry on March 09, 2012, 09:19:58 am
This is based upon the styrene hull/deck set from MyHobby Store (http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/product/16988/submersible--plan-bm1426 (http://www.myhobbystore.co.uk/product/16988/submersible--plan-bm1426)) and nicknamed the 'Jelly Bean' by AMS Chairman Nigel Edmonds...

Mine has a Prestwich Models r/c box, 2 x 7.2v, 1600ma/h cell packs, a Thunder Tiger esc, Robbe rx, a 385 motor turning a 35mm 3 blade brass prop in a nozzle and a 360 motor driving a 30mm 3 blade brass prop for the vertical thruster.

She has two forwards facing HiViz UltraBrite leds in the nose, one underneath, one on the vertical tail fin and two flashing HiViz Ultrabrite leds on the upper deck, these run from a 5 x 1200ma/h cell pack in the free flood area in the bows.

She's just off to be sprayed up properly...yellow and black vertical stripes.

Rich

This is a very short piece of video of the initial test of the vertical thruster. Apologies for the shakey video, I was trying to hold the camera, press the start button and hold the leads on to the battery, all at the same time.

Thanks Yannis, most gracious of you to say so. Just the controller for the vertical thruster motor to install (I forgot about it....call it a senior moment!) and THEN she'll be off to the spray shop.

Kinda reminds me of the Darkstar UAV.

So what happened with the test dive of this, or did a seagull fly off with it in its beak?
