Hi all here are some photos of my latest build the Svitzer Maltby. I started building her eight months ago and I think she will take about another six months to complete.
-
Hi Brian.
She looks the part but you have not got six months man, we've got a regatta at Balne Moor and your not bringing half a tug this time.
All the best
John
-
She has progressed quite a bit since the last photo that you took John. :-)) :-))

Hello
Such a beautiful work :-))

Hello
Is that scratch built or from a kit?
-
Hi Michael she is scratch built, but you can now buy a hull and plan from Tyne Models.
-
Hi Michael.
You can get the Hull & plan from Tyne Models but the down side for you, you have to test it at Balne Moor pond in the UK. lol
Not a bad trip out, just going to test the tug love, see you in four to five weeks time. Go on Michael get one.

Cheers Tony, are you referring to the bulwark top?
-
The whole thing really Brian :embarrassed: haven't built anything without instructions yet and have really only ever scratch built replacement parts with a pattern to work from, but I do have the drawings and of course your photos on the cd so am definitely going to give it a go especially after seeing yours - can I trust the drawings implicitly for all the dimensions?
Please keep posting the pics, kind regards, Tony. :-))
-
Hi Tony, it’s been a while since I built the Ironsider but if my memory serves me well I had no probs with the plan dimensions. You will not have any problem with the Ironsider just take your time and enjoy the build. :-)) :-)) Just send me a PM if you have any queries.
Regards Brian
-
Thanks very much. :-))

Haven’t had a lot of time over the last fortnight for the models but managed to complete the funnel logo and managed to get a start building the bow winch. Still quite a lot to do before the winch is complete. I will post photos as I progress.

ye she wernt in bad shape when she was down here in milford haven
-
Managed to get some photos of the Maltby at the weekend (remembered the camera) still got a lot to do before she is finished, hoping to get a start on the stern winch this week.
-
A bit more done to the Maltby, capstan finished and the winch just about complete only the tow hook to make.
-
Had good day today no interruptions, managed to get the tow hook made and fitted.
-
Thats a brilliantly constructed hook assembly CC....but how does it work?......hydraulic force to close the bite & loss of hydraulic pressure = spring return to open? :o.....
We have a Svitzser here in the Port of Kembla......I will try & get an image of the stern hook.......Derek

I think Chipchase, should be nominated for the Master Class section.

Without a doubt, superb Brian!
-
That's an incredible build, top marks to you...

Although an absolutely superb model it cannot be included within the Masterclass Section as there is just not enough of the build shown.

-
Thank you all for your kind comments regarding the Maltby build :-)) , as Bob has said any model that goes into the Master class Section must have an in depth build log from start to finish.
