Got a video of my now sold U47 on YouTube just follow the link ...................... http://youtu.be/LijHj_L-sII

the robbe U47 is quite a good first sub only dynamic dive but if you get bitten by the bug then you will go onto much better subs.

Regards Mark

its not a robbe    their to big it wouldnt fit in my bike trailer its a hfm 1m one   and i mite make it static if theirs enough room i would use a bag system with a pump   :-))

They have been converted to static divers, but I'd leave it as a dynamic diver. If you're running in ponds which are wadeable or where the boat is easy to recover, you can ballast the boat down until it's only just positively buoyant, then you'll only need a whiff of throttle to submerge, and the boat will be much easier to keep at depth, behaving very much like a static diver.

Although you won't be able to hover the boat, it will return to the surface very slowly once the throttle is cut. If you go below a couple of feet, the boats box may deform enough to make the boat slightly negative, which is why you need to be sure the boat can be recovered should it sink and you're unable to power it to the surface.

Are you talking about the Krick Type VII? It was originally produced by HFM, I think he did a few test shots but never sold it commercially. Krick purchased the rights to it. If it's that boat, it has a dive system already.

Yes it is that sub but only comes set as dynamic  but in that case will convert back

If you ballast the boat so that the decks are awash, it should dive very well as a dynamic diver, effectively like a smaller Robbe Type VII.

Best of luck with this boat- I've seen a couple go all the way to the bottom. I'd recommend thoroughly testing the integrity of the watertight box, which is the weakest link, and don't take it too deep.

this one has been converted   inc wtc it has 18 ish bolts and proper sub seal

I'm doing a Robbe u 47 jobbie at the moment. Gunther Prien's old banger really. I''ve just finished the dynamic dive section but i'm going to connect up the front and rear dive planes instead as this idea seems a bit unreliable.
This one's about 1.70m btw.
Put some piccies up when you can and we might be able help you avoid our happy accidents. :embarrassed: :}

dynamics ok i have 2 dynamic divers , but hopefully thiswill be used in a pyro display so dynamic diving isnt reliable enough and static will be fited with fail safe so she blows up to the top  :-))

Might be worthwhile reinforcing the area around the crack with some additional plastic sheet. The cracking could be due to stress in that area, age, or a reaction with a glue or other chemical or perhaps a combination of all three. Regardless of the cause, that area will now be a weak spot, but if you double it up with some new plastic, that should ensure a reliable repair.

Post by: BailingBen on April 05, 2012, 01:35:59 pm
used plastic to reinforce glued it now leaving it for an hour or to for the glue to properly cure then i will put a new seal on wait till saturday chuck it in the bath and see if it has gone  if so down lake sunday at every day next week lol  , except monday

But your using normal radio gear? the depth of the lake should not be a problem for the rc gear its only about 2 feet deep

Was with my gf just out for a walk, we sat there for abit n watched the sub then left when you walked around the lake with it

Will be down there maybe tomorrow, or tues and on wens racing from 5pm, let us know when your going next n i will bring the yacht down, always find it better when theres someone else about to chat to

Could you not just get a water tight seal then put it through the water proof box and run it up along the deck? just wake abit of glue over the end of the wire to stop water getin inside the wire, thata what my ohio had worked fine  :-))

I want to hear from someone in your club that the sub is working properly and is watertight. Once I have that assurance I will send you an auto leveller, free of charge...once you have it, send it to Sub John, ask VERY nicely, and ask if he will carry out the necessary modifications to it and I will pay him for doing so.

Then you can install it in your sub and away you go. How's that sound?

Rich

I think this boat is set-up with bow plane control only, Rich.

You could get the rear planes working I guess, but it will require some modification, unless they've been converted already?

i have thought about converting aft ones and if the leveller cant work on front nes will look into doing it

Sods law says the most likely part to fail in a boat is also the most inaccessible.

If there is no access, cut in small hatch, and make good.
