Not yet but I'm about to, next Thursday. Plan had been to fit a couple of 700BB turbos but now need to do it with bits I've already got. Not gonna be usin the supplied couplings though.

No, but seen inside the box, quite a lot for your dosh I must say....
-
Sort of... What do you need to know? :-)
-
Just want to know what the motors are like....
-
Rich,
If I remember correctly they are RS 550's.
Quite suited to the model enen though it is heavy.

550's? hmm...that's interesting, I thought they were 540's? I'll take your word for it though Bob....I just wanted to know what they'd be like, they were on the shortlist for the Spearfish, but I think (in fact, I'm 99% sure) I've made my mind up now on the power set up for it.
Thanks mate,
Rich

Rich,
From the advert for the model:
The kit is supplied with two 550 size, brushed motors plus mounts, shafts and propellers.
I do like the Mabucci RS 550 motors as they are so user flexable.
On 6 volts you get about 9000 rpm ans 12 volts 18000 rpm but with better torque than a 540.
I had a Deans Motor gunboat (about 24 inches long) fitted with 1 x 550 on 8.4 volts through a prop shop 3 blade fast prop and she flew and had good duration.
This was before LiPo's.
I also converted a Perkassa like the Hooben on 1 shaft using an old drill 550 and she took off but couldn't check duration as it sheared the coupling.
I didn't keep her as when she was running I was made an offer I couldn't refuse for her!!
