Many moons back I remember we used to solder a large multi coloured "thing" which looked like a boiled sweet across the motor terminals to counteract any interference from the motor reaching the radio.
Now we have three tiny little things (ACTion RFI kit) which look like pale coloured seeds instead. What's the difference between the 'boiled sweet' and the 'seed then? Is one better than the other? Why the change?

They are all capacitors. With 2.4Ghz these are not as essential as they were on 27 and 40 Mhz as interference from the brushes in the motor tends to be at the lower frequencies. Not sure why the difference in design, but they all do the same job.
