Title: RC SUBSHOP SEAWOLF KIT
Post by: HARBORMASTER on April 12, 2012, 06:31:05 pm
Good afternoon I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with rc subshop's seawolf kit.  I am just getting started in rc submarines and it seems like a fairly complete kit but it is made in china so I have some reservations as to the quality of the kit.  Thank you for any help and guidance  Garey

Well that's basically a converted Trumpeter Seawolf.

Haven't done business with them personally, however I have tried one of the pumps they sell- the geared model. This was a very nicely designed pump ruined by a poor choice of materials for the gears, which were far too soft. If they'd used composite or brass gears, the pump would have been superb.

Also be aware these models look very small pondside. That may or may not be an issue for you.

I'd say you'd be better off looking for a secondhand Sheerline Akula, which you can often pick-up for the same sort of money. Far more rugged, still nice and portable, but won't get lost on the lake.

Doesn't sound right to me. Seawolf at 1/144th is about 30" long, and the Kilo about 20".

Hi Garey,

Just measured my USS Dragonfish (which is a converted 1/144th scale Trumpeter Seawolf kit)....30" from bows to the tip of the prop.

Thank you for taking the time. The information I got was from Donald at rc subs so there may have been a problem in communication.  At least now i know what size the model would be.  It seemed like a good price with everything included but
the radio.  Less than 300.00 us including shipping
