I am brush painting the lower hull on a boat with gloss black Humbrol enamel
I have flatted off the first coat to a dull finish - if I used T-cut on this surface
would it restore the gloss finish?
Anybody know or have experience - I am asking now because I don't
want to go and buy some T-cut and find out it don't work!
TIA

Hi Richard, Farecla G3 polishing compound, although more expensive, is far superior to T Cut and is water based as well so when the compound starts to dry, a few squirts of water from a spray bottle and away you go again.... I use it all the time for finishing and polishing plugs and GRP moulds prior to waxing...

no , t cut , nor any of the cutting polishes wont work , enamel only has a shine on its surface . if you try a cutting polish it will leave you with a flat dull finish !

I used farecla G3 on the gel-coat bodyshell when I built my Cobra
- see my avatar picture (if you haven't already noticed!) - sadly I binned
the remains of the tin when I sold the car - ISTR - it came in a fairly
big tin - there would be an awful lot left over after polishing a 28" hull!

Sorry, I couldn't tell from your avatar if you used G3 to polish your car, the picture is a bit small......

:} - I didn't think you'd be able to see the finish!
Given triumphjohn's comments I think I shall just give it
a final thinned coat once I gave got rid of the last few lumps
and bumps.
Ta for all the advice anyway!

Give it a final coat, enamel's will NOT polish up after colour sanding

For Mark @ Marks Model Bits :
Pictures of my Cobra..... :-))
2 x pictures attached ...
?? this is a bit of a test post - I am having real problems with postimage
I can't upload photos, and, more often than not, I can't view other
peoples pics when I click on the thumbnail ....
I am using Firefox 12 - could this have something to do with it ?

Hi I use T cut to remove gloss! Then I polish with a wax polish this leaves a surface between satin and gloss, good for scale model boat hulls.
I will try the other polishing compound though on the car, thanks for that.
