Title: dual ESC's
Post by: william08098 on May 03, 2012, 12:59:10 am
when using two motors, two speed controlers and a receiver with BET is it okay to have both ESC's connected to the receiver with no modifications to the power requirements?  That is can both be operating using the BET?  Will be using an old ACE commander transmitter having dual throttle sticks.  Thanks for any reply.

Receivers don't have BECs, the controllers do.  Connecting two BEC supplies up to a single receiver will result in an over-voltage situation and damage to the receiver. You will need to disconnect the red (power) wire from one of the speed controllers' plugs before plugging both of them in to the receiver.

Definitely disconnect the red wire on one of your controllers, two supplies to one receiver is not good. (http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p8/DickyD_photos/Smileys/20409_4.gif)

RX BECs do not have the same capability as ESC BECs, and I am fairly sure they only regulate the voltage to the internal bits of the receiver.  If the RX label claims BEC, it can be safely ignored.
Multiple BECs are liable to each be trying to regulate to a marginally different voltage.  The results are generally unpredictable.  Sometimes it works, sometimes odd things happen, sometimes the magic smoke comes out.
I don't know if it appeared on here as well, but there is a good set of basic drawings here  http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=783582

:-) Thanx, will now make sure one red wire on one ESC will be disconnected.
