Title: PICS TO SMALL TO VIEW
Post by: Stavros on May 09, 2012, 10:02:45 pm
Why oh WHY does everyone seen to post images on this forum that are far to small to view and when you click on them they wont open up.
All you need to do is to simply open a photobucket account....FREE
Resise your photos to 500x500 in ANY resiser
Upload to Photobucket
click on bottom link and past it on to your thread and EVERFYONE can see the photos without the need for a magnifier.

Or am I missing the point

You aren't missing the point at all mate, totally agree. I'd rather just be able to see the pictures without having to open endless tabs and being bombarded with adverts... Or am I missing the point too? %)

That post image thing is ok if the size is dont correctly, otherwise i always use the attachments thing.

The picture size should really be increased as i like to see detail on a model.

I use a Sony Alpha, so all my pics are huge too.. I just use Photobucket's own resizer to 640x480px...

Stavros and Andyn, you can choose to shoot in lower resolutions, check the menus. For general use I find the higher resolutions just take storage space without adding to the image quality on a normal screen.

Sony Alpha for me to using iPhoto to re-size and convert.

I really would recommend using Photobucket, it's free.
Go to http://photobucket.com/ (http://photobucket.com/) , register and create an album.  Upload your photos, resize to around 500 x 400, open the photo and click the [IMG] link to copy the the link, then paste the link into your Mayhem reply.

Everyone can see your model in reasonable detail without having to click to open another window, plus it helps reduce the loading on the Mayhem server as the picture you can see on Mayhem is being processed by Photobucket instead.

An interesting discussion.
I tend to take the original photos at high resolution and store them (on CDs) for future reference. Quite often they are well over 3mb per photo. Great for enlarging the odd "bits". When I wish to post a pic on Mayhem I simply duplicate the originals and use the built-in Windows resizer. Small, Medium or lLarge....one of them will come up with something under the measly 161kb we're allowed to post. BY.

Bryan,

Cds and dvds have a nasty habbit of not working after a while, make sure your double backed up.

I used to store things on dvds before higher capacity harddrives came about and most of them were corrupt even though they had been verified and stored safely in a safe...

Dan, I take your point....but is anything really "long lasting" these days? The "Bishop" raised this very point to me many eona ago.
So what makes a "Hard Drive" less corruptible than a CD/DVD?
Pays yer money and take a chance really. BY.

I really don't mind opening a link, and I really do appreciate finding a big high definition image.
I don't like finding an image no bigger than the link image.

It is nice of people to take the trouble to illustrate their points - sometimes what I don't grasp
from the text becomes clear from an image.

Like wise I also use the attachment option.

Don't forget you have no control over, photobucket or similar, here today gone tommorrow?

Works for me as well and I am not that versed in Photos etc. KISS
Don't use Bucket or the likes plus i don't need to be around the web playing with photos etc.

Dave

Only because, and understandably so, because of site limitations.

Likewise, not everyone may have an unlimited download capability, hence photo bucket could/may well  burn up your allocation very quickly.

Especially if your are viewing your images on line all the time???

Nope not at all been using it for over 8 yrs and NEVER even got near my free allocation

And yet again more pics I can not open

Charming what a waste of time

Photobucket has removed the storage limits for free accounts. Happened about a year ago.

I've been on for four years on this account, and have used 719mb of my 10gb bandwidth limit. If I ever do hit it, well I guess I'll just use a little common sense and open another account with an alternate email address? %)

My avatar on here is hosted on photobucket, and has been viewed 1342 times. Go figure.

Just out of interest guys would you please comment and opinionate on the size of the pics I've been using? I can size down but I try to portray as big an image where possible but you do have to "click on it" to open it up a little more, here's an example, regards, Tony.

I really don't mind clicking to open a bigger image - the bigger the better for my money

I agree about larger images being much more desirable but I am quite happy to have them in the text and the size (640x480) which I think is the forum limit. The submarine below, taken at a Norwich submarine day and not my model, was simply resized to 640x480 and the quality changed to give a file size of 80.9mb which is well below the 161Mb allowed. In fact I could have posted 2 pictures like this within the limit. What is the problem?

Oops - sorry about that! I can't delete the extra posts. Something was working very slowly & it appeared that my post had not been received.

If you see a repeated post within half an hour of double posting then you have the choice of removing them yourself.

The moderator (tug Kenny) in the post above said that if I misposted I could delete the post within 30 minutes. I can find no such option & if I just edit away all the text it just tells me that I have made a mistake. How do I delete a duplicate post?

I believe the  'Delete button'  stays visible for a short time, which would allow you to remove your post.  (correct me if I'm wrong because my delete button is always there)

If is not available then replace your letter with just a  'full stop'  and we will know to remove the duplicate post.

The sub is called Resurexxi, and was totally scratch built by Paul Brassington, a member of The Association of Model Submariners. Paul has been developing this boat for a number of years, and I think I can say that it is one of the best performing subs around at this time.

Paul even designed and built his own radio outfit for the boat...not a fancy radio like you see nowadays, but one with a steerwheel and on/off switches.

not a fancy radio like you see nowadays,

A completey random thought occurs ...... vaguely thinking of Whales .......

in a pool environment would it be possible to control a model sub by sound?

to remain within topic - please post a 'too small' photo of anything relevant

You mean control the boat by sonic waves? The man you need to talk to about that is the AMS's tame electro geek, John Robinson...aka 'sub john' on here.

If he doesn't know...then there's nobody else that will.

HI Norseman
In answer to your question yes it is quite possible to control a sub under water using sonic link have started to design a system to do the same thing plus you will be able to use this in salt water or like you said a swimming pool, but i won't to still  have proportional control of rudder, and other bits like speed controller and other things but all so won't to be able to have on off functions using switches. Didn't see your personal message until 10 Min's a go have been busy with so many other electronic projects it will probably be a while before i finish it

Anyone that wants a post corrected, modified, delete... just use [ Report to Moderator ] link at the bottom of every post  otherwise it can take ages to find it!   O0

But if it's your own post you want to delete, the software won't let you report it to a moderator....

"you cannot report your own post, it doesn't make sense!"

Good point.  Not to worry though, as duplicated posts are removed without request.   :}

I think the postimage utility built into the forum works very well. I also use photobucket, but the postimage is very handy when you just want to quickly upload an image, and I guarantee if you post images in 640x480 or thereabouts, someone will pipe up and ask if the images are available in higher resolution.

The problem with Photo Bucket and other Photo storage is that they Crash and pictures then disappear of the site, also people leave or give up the hobby and delete there account, there are also the people who get a strop on and delete there pictures, and that has been done by some  members a few times, it gives you pages of red Xs.

 I will keep clicking.
