have they got the 500 grand together yet to have her repaired and certificated for carrying passengers...........they give billions to a dead cause like the Olympics, and yet can't fund our heritage...disgusting.

I was on the Shieldhall in 1992 for the British Steel Challenge warm up, she was then in Ocean Village at Southampton.
I remember she was looking a bit tired then.

like the (poop boat) the name she was known by locally in Glasgow due to its cargo is just going to be a static model.
Is unfortunate that the traditional industries are gone and the "Yoof of to-day" have`nt experienced the sweat and toil of bending
steel to create something like her so they can`t relate to what all the fuss is about when a campaign gets started to try and save
her. They should be on facebook giving their MP and councillors a POKE to get some action. Its always down to the same small
band of die hard enthusiasts to try and get something done.
Is she going to go the same way as the Plymouth in a few years time. I spent two years on F126 when she was in Glasgow
something that never gets mentioned, as part of the volunteers crew. Its Gaulling to find thats its all been for nowt all those
hours spent with the chipping hammer and paint brush wasted. All I` ve got to show for it are photos a few souvenirs and a
marlin spike..lol

Hi SANTRIM, when I used to work on the Thames many years ago, we used to refer to these types of vessels as Bovril Boats, I remember proceeding up Gravesend reach in thick fog once, we went through a patch of discoloured water and the smell was diabolical, my skipper said it was a bovril boat taking advantage of the weather to dump its load unseen and have a early return home.

Yes well the "POOP" boat may have gone but the "POOP" factory is still there. Occasionally I have to unfortunately pass that way on my vehicles of two wheels and on some days you
may be lucky enough to inhale the perfume emitting from it which would bring a tear to a glass eye.

From what you say the London Bovril boats have finished, shame they where a good job if you could get on them, besides which they looked pretty good too.

I have a couple more photos of Sheildhall,taken by my good mate Barry,who was a Leccy in Falmouth Docks.The ship is given free dry docking by the dock owners,periodically.Apparently the colours she comes out of a repaint with,is decided by what colours have been donated by Paint manufactuers! It is far more economic for them to donate the paint,than it is to dispose of them,so at least they are put to good use.From what I understand that the owners of Sheildhall only have to pay for the labour when she comes to Falmouth
